Just a bit taken back by the price, for 2 cheese burgers with fries and 2x Guinness this came to £49.. The waitress was very good and welcoming, but i cant help but feel that when the other guy settled our bill, if he charged us for the wrong table..
Couldn't face cooking, so took advantage of the free child's meal with a main meal on Tuesday evenings. The weather behaved so we sat in the spacious beer garden. The children all enjoyed their pizzas and ice cream, while we had big meaty cheese burgers and chips. Happy children, happy parents!
We came for pie night I had chicken, hubby had steak. Both pies came with mash, peas and gravy. Pies were ok although I am sure everything had just be heated up in the microwave. Drinks were good and everything was very reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and the premises were clean. Nice, quiet ambience.
Wine very expensive. Asked for coffee and told we couldn't have any because the machine not turned on. So asked for sparkling mineral water, told there were only large bottles. We left.
Luckily the weather was good when we went for Sunday lunch because the garden is lovely and there is no wheelchair access into the pub. I didn’t ask about access when booking because we used to go to the Roebuck before the previous management refurbed inside and out. It didn’t occur to me that a refurb would involve removing an access ramp completely. It is a legal requirement for access for everyone including wheelchair users and I shouldn’t really have to ask! We suggested that a portable ramp can be purchased such as the one The Old Vine has. Access aside, the service was excellent and the food very good. The food choices were a little restrictive with Sunday lunch primarily about roast dinners, but they were tasty.
