However the experienced diner will know this meal needs to be just perfect or the meal is ruined and a bird killed for nothing. Our usual place was not available so we were recommended Rudi's Beisl. The ambiance inside reflects the history the place has gone through but surrounds itself in the pride of photos of many popular diners. The place is not big and tight, so first of reservation is important and next to windows seemed to have more space. Everyone at our table ordered the goose, which needs to be preordered when reserving the table. The wine recommended matched the meal and was light enough to allow us to enjoy the goose. The kitchen prepared the meal to near perfection. Perhaps I'm biased be a use of the usual place we go for goose once a year but I can guarantee this was excellently cooked. The service was friendly and attentive from the beginning but as the place filled and all the guests became louder and more demanding you can tell the service was becoming more stressed. They never behaved rude but you could see they were getting annoyed. Keep in mind this place is tight and small for all the guests they want. Plus being winter it became hot and steamy inside very quick. We have been recommended of other classic Austrian dishes from friends. Hope to try them next time.
Have you ever walked into a place and it seems like the music suddenly stops and everyone turns to look at you? Well, that's what happened to me here. Maybe it didn't help that we had scarves wrapped around our faces like we were going to rob the place but you can't blame us because it was about -50 degrees outside! Anyway, we did not have reservations but the kind waitress said she would happily take us in 15 minutes. Rudi Beisl is a 10 minute walk from the Belvedere so I would recommend coupling a visit to see Gustav Klimt's The Kiss and eating at Rudi's on the same trip. This place is great if you want authentic Austrian fare and the folks here are really friendly. We ordered the clear beef soup with bone marrow (YUM! , lamb ghoulash with bread dumpling, and the duck special of the day. While we loved everything, I would definitely recommend the soup! Really warmed us up before heading out into -50 degree weather!
I was very disappointed in this place, it has great reviews but I cant understand why. They had lost our reservation when we got there, and told us they would'nt be able to accommodate. We insisted we had called many hours earlier, and then they tried to tell us we had to sit outside, but as it had been a cooler day (which was the reason we had made the reservation in the first place). Eventually we got our indoor table, the food itself was okay, but the starter platters were dramatically better both in presentation and taste. We spent 120 euros for a group of 4. Very simply, I was under whelmed and was sad we spent so much money. As a side note the hesitation in seating was completely unfounded. We ended up being there for 2 hrs and when we left there was still plenty of room.
Bester Zwiebelrostbraten meines Lebens. Danke für diesen kulinarischen Leckerbissen!! Das Lokal ist klein, eng und eventuell nicht unbedingt für jedermann und jederfrau etwas, aber man isst dort auf alle Fälle in besten Händen. Der Service ist sehr gut und gefühlt bemüht so rasch, wie möglich dem persönlichen Wohlbefinden gerecht zu werden!
Rudis Beisl ist ein kleines und feines Beisl.... Ha.. da die Anzahl von Tischen klein ist ... besteht natürlich Platzbedarf und Reservierung unumgänglich... Mittags wenn man Glück hat auch ohne... Ich war schon ein paar mal hier und habe immer gut gegessen.. leider durch die Pandemie war der Besuch dieses Beisel nicht möglich.. Doch vor der Zeit war ein Gansl immer ein Höhepunkt der Ganslsaison... Heute im Jahre 2021 Winter wieder einmal da.. Das gebackene Surschnitzel mit Erdäpfel Vogerlsalat war köstlich.. Die Panier frisch resch und ohne Beigeschmack wenn sie wissen was ich meine... das Fleisch zart und weich ... angenehm im Geschmack... Der Salat gut abgestimmt mit der Marinade und Vogerlsalat frisch ..super Die Bedienung freundlich .... die Wartezeit auf die Speisen sind logisch.. A.. Die Speisen werden frisch zubereitet B.. Geht halt nicht ...alle auf einmal...he he.. Bis zum nächsten mal....Prost Ach ja... das Gansl mit Beilagen am Nachbartisch hat köstlich ausgschaut... wie man so sagt..
