There are few hotels remaining in the US with this level of majesty. Its atrium was once described as one of the Wonders of the Earth, and you'll understand the joy as you navigate the hotel. The rooms are smaller, from a different era. The food is fine; not eclectic or haute cuisine. It's good. If you're lucky, a musician, perhaps a harpist or piano player will fill the atrium with music. You can sit and resonate with the hotel's glorious past, pick up its incredible vibe, and become energized with its ambience. It's a different experience, and it's strongly suggested if you have a reason to be in the area.
The West Baden Springs Hotel is a WayBack machine! A dramatic round hotel with a spectacular glass domed atrium quite unlike any other. We had early breakfasts at Sinclair's Cafe and liked it both times. Drinks in the atrium at Ballards was delightful and delectable. We had dinner at the 1875 Steakhouse at the French Lick Hotel and had a superb meal. The resort is very inviting and pleasant as a truly one of a kind edifice . The staff and guests were kind to our Welsh Corgi Walter and he enjoyed the attention. Special call out to the night staff on August 7 at 12:30 as a tornado warning was issued 45 seconds after my phone notified me of same. The night manager on the microphone was cordial, informative yet insistent that we move to a safe area in the basement of the hotel. Walter and we were happy to have the staff direct us to the safe zone and bring water for everyone. Well done! We played golf at the Donald Ross course which is very fun and quite reasonable. So booked this trip for the Wife and Daughters birthdays. Wife completely enjoyed the spa while the Daughter and I played some golf. Food everywhere was superb. The staff everywhere was excellent to talk to and deal with. West Baden and French Lick both are amazing hotels. They both have lots of things to do and plenty to see. If gambling isn't your thing (not ours) they have spas, tours, horses, trails, golf, and just plenty of time to relax. Thank you for making the girls feel welcome for there birthdays.
What a beautiful place! We had a great time. The hotel is an architectural wonder. Make sure you take the history tour, it is fascinating. We ate at 3 different restaurants and all were fabulous. There is so much to do, horseback riding, golf, foot-golf, hiking.... The staff was so friendly and accommodating to anything we needed. The rooms were spacious and very clean. Shuttles were constantly running between hotels and activities.
I have traveled many different places, but the West Baden Hotel is by far the best place to stay. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, you will have an exciting and positive experience that will have you longing to return. Absolutely Gorgeous place.
