Macks Char Shack - Wasilla

Having lived in the south west we were blessed to eat some amazing barbecue. In Alaska not so much Until Mack’s char shack Filled the void! I swear to you I dream of his amazing brisket and pulled pork! This guy knows how to cook meat. We always get a pound of our favorites and pick up some yummy rolls at the bakery and make our own sandwiches. Make sure you get a couple of his barbecue sausage to try, we love his blueberry one it is amazing! When he does have sides try the mac cheese! Needless to say we’re big fans.

Half rack of ribs and Carolina styled pulled pork sandwich. The ribs were overcooked. Very mushy to say the least. Fall off the bone ribs are a sign that they are over cooked. However I understand that some people like that. The sandwich would have been good if I were able to make the sandwich myself. By the time I got back to my location (5 minute drive) the bread was soggy and was not able to enjoy. You get a lot of pulled pork for the price I will admit and for a half rack they were meaty.

I usually prepare my own barbecue at home, but I decided to try Mack's Char Shack since I was craving ribs, and I couldn't be more pleased with my choice! Their ribs were tender, perfectly smoky, and honestly better than any I've ever made myself. I'm so glad I found this amazing place for authentic barbecue! Plus, the owner is truly friendly. I highly recommend checking it out!

Wow, I just had the best brisket of my life! I’m currently visiting Alaska and decided to stop by this restaurant after seeing all the rave reviews. I have to say, the barbecue is absolutely incredible and melts in your mouth. The owner was super friendly as well! We’re already trying to plan another visit during our 9-day road trip—it’s just that good! I just got to Anchorage from North Carolina and didn’t expect to find such amazing BBQ while on vacation here. I’m so glad we did!
