Situated across from Granville Skytrain Station and The Bay, this cozy spot is popular for both lunch and dinner. Despite its size, the restaurant attracts many diners, some of whom opt to take their meals to go. During my visits for lunch, I noticed that there is always a long line to place an order, but the food is served quickly. The dishes are consistently fresh and well-prepared, with generous portions at affordable prices. Overall, Bay Sushi Cafe Express is a fantastic option for those looking for delicious Japanese fast food.
I visited this restaurant for the second time, with my first visit being around 5 years ago. I ordered 2 dynamite rolls and was impressed by their size. The first roll had cold prawn tempura while the second had a fresh, hot one. I wished for more consistency as I preferred the fresh hot tempura. I also tried the mango roll which was delicious and extremely fresh. I plan to return to try more dishes when I am in the area again.
Now working at Downtown Vancouver therefore I have many chances to explore around during lunch time.<br/ <br/ Recommended by some colleagues, I've already visited the place twice in a week. Super busy during lunch time, I was glad that I ordered on line, went there after 15 minutes, just needed to wait for another few minutes to have my order ready for pickup. <br/ <br/ My 1st order : Beef Udon in Soup <br/ <br/ My 2nd order : Beef Ramen w. Miso Soup<br/ <br/ Udon noodles were yummy, ramen also nice, tender beef, some veggies included. Big portion, fresh ingredients, the soup was just a little bit too sweet for me.<br/ <br/ Services were nice friendly though very busy. Reasonable prices because of location.<br/ <br/ Recommended!
I just wanted Sushi and was scrolling through the options near Pacific Center, so I went to the closest place. I got the Combo B which was 9.50 and I was supposed to get 8 Cali rolls and 4 pieces of sushi, but I got an extra piece of fresh maguro sushi. The other sushis were salmon, tuna, shrimp and snapper. For the first time in my life, I had a Cali roll that was avocado-dominated with black sesame seeds which was a great change. All of the sushi was good except for the regular tuna, which tasted fresh-frozen. Other than that, the taste and quality was on point for the price.
Good for takeout. Upon entering I was almost scared away by the sheer number of people both waiting for food and waiting to order! However the line actually moved quite quickly and despite the crowd I only ended up waiting about 5-10 minutes for my takeout order. <br/ <br/ It's a no-frills type of restaurant. I felt that their nigiri had a bit too much rice which threw the rice to fish ratio a little off. However I really enjoyed their chopped scallop inside out roll -mixing it with tobiko roe really brought it to another level. <br/ <br/ I would definitely return for takeout sushi in the downtown area. For eating in, not so much-there's plenty of better options elsewhere.
