Watch the directions at the junction to Milam Street. There is a strange little turnaround trick you need to do to go on Milam in the right direction. Apart from that, it is a very easy ride from San Antonio to Uvalde on the 90W motorway. Introduce: We wish that charging in all clubs was as easy as Lone Star Saloon. They load from the back of the club, the second door. You can park as close to the door as you want. Once you open the door, you are at the foot of a ramp that leads to a reasonable slope. Essentially, roll your equipment from the truck, through the door and directly onto the stage. What a joy! Stage: The stage is at least three meters high and huge through the standards of most clubs in the area. There are many sockets. It was obviously built by someone who knew what they were doing. We did not find soft spots or problematic resonances. Lighting: The venue has a lot of lights, but they are usually the thin LED PAR lights that don't throw much. Since many of them are mounted a fair distance from the stage, they will give you enough light to see what you do, but they are not very atmospheric and are not bright enough to create a lot of excitement. Maybe you want to use your own lighting. Sound System: The club has a massive, high-quality sound system. Each side of the stage has eight 18 lower parts and three uppers. Each of the tops has two 15 speakers plus a horn. There is a six meter high rack from the stage filled with Crown and QSC Power Amps to guide all these speakers. On the wall opposite the stage there is a sound stand with the Behringer X32 mixer of the club. The monitor system is excellent. I don't know how many independent monitor channels they have, but I know they had at least three. I can't imagine a situation where you need to introduce your own sound system to cover this gig. The existing sound system saves a ton of setup time. The Lone Star Saloon also offers a soundman. He was very helpful when we set up and worked closely with our own sound person during the gig. The club can also provide microphones, stands and XLR cables. So, the only equipment you need to bring is your backline and possibly some lighting. Playing through such a large sound system is a real pleasure. Layout: This is a big club and can probably hold several hundred people. It is essentially only a large rectangle with the stage over the rear wall and the rod over the opposite wall from the stage. The dance floor accommodates the entire building center and there are tables and counters on both sides of the dance floor. Band: This place is built for volume! We had no problems with a volume suitable for a hard rock band. Comfort: Air conditioning was completely sufficient while we were there. Miscellaneous: We sent this performance via Facebook Live and had no problems maintaining an Internet connection during the broadcast. Parking: Parking is not a problem with Lone Star Saloon. There's a lot of it. You can pull your Rig right up to the stage door in the back of the club, unload and leave your vehicles there all night, so they are easily accessible for the shop after the gig. It's clear they understand the business. You are good people and we look forward to our next performance here. Overall This place is a pleasure to play. It was designed as a dance hall and it shows. We look forward to the prospect of returning for another commitment.
Nice place to dance, but call for a table you want to sit.
Honestly, that was the worst night I ever had. After we paid a fee of $30, we were looked at by the bouncers (I guess because we were unknown faces) and they came to us again and again and again and asked us to see our bracelets, although we were obviously only standing there to think our own business. Then they asked my cousin to take off his hoodie... completely crazy. Didn't know there was a middle school dress code. Ugly a saloon
