Our waiter seemed unfamiliar with the menu, requiring us to point out our orders for him to copy down. Additionally, the Sunday lunch menu, priced at £30 per person, was printed on a plain piece of A4 paper, which was unexpected. We experienced delays in receiving our food, with one instance where we had to ask another staff member for butter for our bread. The starters we ordered were fine, but could have been improved with better presentation. Our roast mains were the highlight of the meal, with well-cooked beef and moist chicken. However, the plates were extremely hot, indicating they had been sitting under lamps for some time. We also had to request sauces and cutlery multiple times throughout the meal. The desserts were a letdown, with a long wait for them to arrive at our table. Overall, the service was slow and lacking, especially considering there were only two tables in the restaurant. A Sunday lunch for three people should not have taken three hours, and we shouldn't have had to ask for basic items like cutlery and butter. The restaurant also had issues with their card machine, which is something they should address. If the restaurant had been busier, some of these shortcomings might have been excusable, but given the circumstances, it was disappointing.
This hotel is worse than Fawlty Towers! My fiancé, our parents, and I went for dinner at Bensons Brasserie on August 5th for a special occasion and pre-wedding get together. Thankfully, we are not getting married at this hotel! The experience was a disaster from start to finish. We were given two round tables pushed together for the six of us, which was uncomfortable and felt like we weren't dining together. The tables were not properly set and had no tablecloth. We requested to move to a rectangular table so we could sit together, but it was also not laid out properly and had no tablecloth. The service was terrible - wrong drinks orders, incorrect food, uncooked risotto, missing bread with olive oil, cold steaks with cold sauce that had to be asked for twice. When we asked for the sauce to be heated up, the chef insisted that's how he likes it. We had to repeatedly find waiters for things they had forgotten, and even after moving to the hotel foyer for drinks, they still managed to mess up our orders. The mistakes were endless. This restaurant was way too expensive for the poor service and quality we received. Very disappointing.
Ordered a sirloin steak at £19. long wait. It was unbelievably tough ,I have never had a steak anywhere near as tough. Hard to cut I made the mistake of attempting to eat it. One mouthful is all I had , I choked on it. I returned it the waiter returned later stating that both he the chef had then both tried it had found it appalling. I had ordered a side order of chips £3.50 ended up just eating the chips for which I was charged. We were staying at the hotel [Woodlands Park would class breakfast as average . Food was not topped up on the buffet, nor was anything refrigerated on the bar top in any manner ,despite the breakfast time running some 3 hours. The building is nice but quality very poor ,vastly overpriced.
Evening meal menu a little limited but the breakfast was plentiful and cooked to order. Some of the staff could have been a little more friendly
We had a very tasty breakfast there. A very good selection of dry and raw fruits. I highly recommend benedict eggs. The staff were a very friendly and helpful:
