Barleycorn's Public House

We have eaten here 5 or 6 times prior. Our last visit was very disappointing; ordered fish chips (had twice in the past) and the portion was half what it had been and the fish was under cooked. Service was great and always has been. Will not be returning.

Tuesday burger special is really good ! $10 for a very good tasting burger on a good bun, served with very thin cut fries. A tall draft beer included! The hostess however left lots to be desired. Place was nearly empty 8 pm. Almost thought she was going to tell me there was a wait for table she looked everywhere,for over a minute. Seated at hi top. Waited at least 5 minutes no service. Walked past her and sat at bar. She didn't even notice.not sure what they are trying to be ? Looks like a higher end bar but yet they have $25 meatloaf on menu ?

This was our first time here, but certainly not the last. Great atmosphere, varied menu with delicious food, and reasonably priced (upper mid-range). Our server was attentive and friendly. We were able to meet the owner who was out on the floor with the wait staff, looking after small details, making sure customers were well taken care of. This is a unique gem worth checking out.

The food was great both times that I have been. Christy the bartender has been one of the best bartenders I have experienced in my travels and skilled at her art. I had some amazing drinks that were on point. A must do in the area and is owned by an actual bar owner, not a corporation or chain.

My husband and I visited Barleycorn on a Tuesday around 5:30 p.m. We were seated immediately. Our server promptly took our drink orders. She was very quick and checked back with us frequently. Service was excellent. We ordered the spinach dip appetizer. About 10 minutes later we ordered our entrees. My husband had the burger with garlic parmesan truffle fries and a beer. It was a special. He got the fries, beer, and burger for $10. He added a side salad as well. I ordered the Yard House chicken sandwich with fries and also added a side Caesar salad. Our appetizer arrived shortly after placing our entree order. The salads then followed before we even got to finish our first bite of the appetizer. Entrees immediately followed while our server was still delivering the salads. Overall, the food tasted good but we were very disappointed with how quickly everything was rushed. We didn't get to enjoy our appetizer before the rest of our food was brought. My fries were cold by the time I finished the appetizer and salad. I really liked the way everything tasted but thought that the chicken sandwich needed more sauce. My husband thought that the burger was worth the $10 paid but probably wouldn't be worth the $15 regular price. We would likely return but in the future would hope that the food can be brought out with more consideration.
