Trattoria Mercatto - Toronto

Valentine's Day is a day when you don't have to eat at home on business trip. Toronto restaurants were definitely packed by couples, so the choice was this Italian restaurant. Pizza cannot be rated over three stars, it was the day or... is the style of the place. Kudos for the nice setting and the staff, very friendly. The dough must be improved and the mozzarella cannot be like a melt drop of cheese.. I didn't try anything else, my rating is neutral..

My boss and I ate a quick lunch here and we ordered a main dish each. I had the seafood linguini, but I asked that the cream sauce be replaced instead of tomato sauce. I was really happy that the Pasta Al...dente, the sauce was good and the seafood (big shrimps, squids and shells) was fresh. Although it was busy, it was not excessively loud. I found the service friendly and efficient. I think I'm going back to try the other dishes.

I recently tried the orchid Cala and it was excellent. The spicy sausage paired with the beautiful pesto was a delightful combination. Although the pasta was slightly overcooked, I still enjoyed it very much. The atmosphere of the restaurant was beautiful as well. I would definitely return!

This restaurant is charming. The calamari was a bit chewy, but the orecchiette and steak were both fantastic. The panna cotta was delicious. The service was friendly, and we had a wonderful time.
