Contribuiți la feedbackOver the years, we have enjoyed many delicious meals at this restaurant, which we viewed as a hidden gem adorned with beautiful paintings. The diverse menu always kept us and our colleagues excited for our next visit. However, during our latest experience, we were disappointed to find that new ownership had led to a decline in service. The prices were higher than usual, and the menu offerings remained the same each night. It seemed as though the only focus was on booking tables and taking payment, rather than providing a memorable dining experience.
This restaurant is located in a beautiful English village and offers delicious meals from a thoughtfully curated menu, ensuring diners aren't overwhelmed with choices. They also have a good selection of local beers and the staff are friendly and helpful. Despite the challenging roads to get there, it is definitely worth a visit.
We visited the evening when there was a series of visitors. the service was slow and we were very surprised when the bar was closed at p.m, although the bar was full. that is not possible to lead a pub.
Torbryan is almost a cul de sac village right in front of ipples, therefore easy to reach, follow brown signs, but the feeling as if it is the quietest village around. it is opposite the church that is used only for occasional service, as the place a museum...feel the inn is absolutely charming in the inner, has recently experienced a subtle transformation and is now also advertised as hotel. we have booked a nice table for Monday night. the place was quiet that added to the quiet rest of the village outside. eating was good, nothing pretentious and with minimal choice, it is recommended to be quite much cooked by fresh. I wonder if the cook with the steaks could be a little more adventurous? the flat iron steak is a good start, so a few more tweaks would take the steaks from the “Seen it all before” form. large selection of gins and funny cocktails supplement the dining wine list. there is a beautiful sitting corner, with many books and huge kamin, which should be wonderfully cozy in winter. very recommended for a quiet evening meal....especially if the background music, why is it necessary? is shut off so that the conversation can be suppressed.
We are stopping at the lazy bear cottage about yards away, this is my second visit and all I can say is I love this pub.... it hasn't been messed about with in side, the cider is amazing... devon cider at it's best, the...owners are polite and so hard working, dogs are welcome, we haven't eaten here yet but it is on my to do list while I'm here..... what more can you say but carry on the great work
