Fairview Cafe - Tafton

My husband threw me a surprise birthday party at the Fairview Cafe. It could not have better. Originally set for the exterior, it was moved inside due to the forecast of rain, and no one would have realized the change, including me. It was truly lovely. We, and our guests, loved the food from appetizers and salads through the entrees (choices of filet mignon, halibut, their Mediterranean pasta dish, and a Chicken Picata) to the amazing sheet cake covered in fresh fruit. The service was impeccable with no detail left overlooked. So, my thanks for an extraordinary birthday go out to Donny, and Jennifer.

The atmosphere is that of a posh hunting lodge with a huge fireplace in the center of the room. The food is pretty average, you can bring your own alcohol. They only have water and soda. The waiters are friendly.

I took my daughter and son-in-law there for dinner upon a recent arrival from our of state. I have driven by many times and always wanted to try this establishment. Well...although the restaurant has a great atmosphere and decent wait staff the food was well below par. The salmon was cooked ok however very bland and under seasoned. The risotto was undercooked and flavorless. The chicken cutlet dinner was two over cooked, dry, flavorless chicken strips. Lastly, was the chicken thighs dinner. They were cooked ok, but again, flavorless, waterery bland broccoli and hard cold risotto. I'm sorry but I won't be revisiting again anytime soon.

We have been going to Fairview Cafe for over 10 years which was the best restaurant in the area. Unfortunately, ownership has taking on other restaurants and the quality of the food and service has been compromised. We have had subpar meals the last few visits, and uncooked Brussel sprouts during our latest meal that had to be returned to kitchen to be cook further. Unfortunately, they were still uncooked the 2nd time around. They are always understaffed now, but our waitress did a fantastic job despite the disappointing dinner.

The crab cakes and skirt steak were excellent, tasty, and real crab. Tasty sauce on meat. Fresh hot roll to start....however, our dinners were cold, not warm or hot, but we were too hungry to send back.
