Do not take this place for granted. Large Indian restaurants that are authentic come few and far between. The Puri, the Mushroom, the lenses all great!! Thank you.
Amazing Tast Treat!. What a great find! I ran across this unpretentious place about 6 months ago and have returned 4 times. If a place is packed with ethnic locals you know something is being done right. They have a buffet 7 days a week that I highly recommend especially for those who don 't know Indian food or who may be frightened off by the word VEGETARIAN-trust me if you didn 't know it was a vegetarian cafe you would not know the difference. The food is a veritable rainbow of delicate flavors. Although the staff is friendly and the decor has been recently redone it does lack the normal 'glitz ' and 'glamor ' of most American eateries but you soon ignore this when you take your first bite. Additionally the place is clean and comfortable. I recommend it highly... try it... you have nothing to lose excpet $9 for a buffet.
Great food. Goo Indian restaurant for what we have around here!! great food and service.
Good food with some sexism. When you walk in you take a seat wherever you'd like. Udipi is vegetarian with some vegan options. I have not tried any of the vegan dishes yet. The lentil soup is delicious, although very spicy. The potato bonda (appetizer) is also good. The lentil balls (as an appetizer) are somewhat tasteless. I've ordered the asian noodles, which are somewhat spicy and a little oily. I've also ordered the smashed eggplant with a side of mashed yellow potatoes and rice. All of the food is good, but be careful if you are vegan, since many of the vegetarian dishes come with a milk based sauce, etc. The service is OK. Personally I enjoyed having the women serve (she was attentive and nonsexist which is of course typical for a woman server to be), not the male one (with the black glasses and childish grin). Went there with my significant other (who is a man) and did not appreciate how the male waiter directed all his questions and answers towards my significant other. Just because I am a woman, does not mean I am invisible. Some may say this is irrelevant, so I guess they must either be a man or a passive woman. It may be due to the culture of Udipi, and most likely is. Nevertheless, good food and not too expensive.
Molkat. My family and I go there once a week. We love the food . One comment to Jota Pe's review. Why are you eating chicken tikka in a vegetarian restaurant?
