St Michael's Manor - St Albans

This is a beautiful spot for a family gathering. We had a private room, which was fantastic. The service and food were good, though the service could have been faster and the portion sizes a bit larger. I would have given it a five-star rating, but there was complete chaos during breakfast. We placed our orders and ended up waiting quite a while. Some dishes came out, but for the most part, we waited and waited with nothing arriving. I had to ask for six different orders, and repeated requests didn't seem to help. It took over 90 minutes for all of us to receive our meals, which was disappointing. The rooms were nice, albeit a bit pricey.

We visited this restaurant for my mother's 90th birthday, and I must say it was fantastic! The staff was attentive, the location was beautiful, and the food was truly excellent. It was busy, but despite that, everything was outstanding. I received nothing but great service from the moment we made our reservation. I would highly recommend it; we felt very special there.

Wonderful experience, staff very helpful, grounds and garden secluded with lake. Manor house upgraded sympathetically.

Excellent experience! We enjoyed a champagne afternoon tea as a gift, and the entire afternoon was delightful. The waitress was charming, and the selection of sandwiches was very nice. The cakes, scones, tea, and a glass of champagne all added to the pleasant experience.
