We went tonight for dinner, food, service and atmosphere excellent, landlady very accomodating as we're bar staff. Food was freshly cooked and very enjoyable. I would say this is without a doubt the best pub for food, service and atmosphere I've ever had the fortunate luck to have discovered. The landlady is the chef and she's so good that she introduced herself and personally came out to make sure we were satisfied with our food which of course was possibly the best quality and home made available and the portion sizes are very generous but isn't reflected in the price. Exceptional value for money. We would dedicatedly call in again next time we visit York. Had recently had a wonderful lunch with my family. the food was excellent, the atmosphere great (loving roaring fire) victoria neils gastfreundschaft was in the second to none. beer was not bad either! highly recommended!
