Hyland Fish & Chips - Shelburne

You can't go wrong with Hyland! Whether it's the halibut with pommes with gravur or the halibut and tossed salad, you can never go wrong with their halibut dishes. If fish isn't your thing, don't worry - their fried chicken is also amazing. I was pleasantly surprised by how excellent it was! The only problem is that I can't seem to stop ordering the halibut. I don't usually eat poutines, but I've heard great things about the variety they offer. The food is great, but what really makes the experience special are the friendly and personable staff. They make dining there a pleasant experience every time. Seriously, they are not just about preparing and serving food, but they are also cool, relaxed, and casual people who are great at engaging in conversation. It's quite entertaining to watch and listen to them interact with regular customers. If you live in or pass through the city and haven't eaten at Hyland, you definitely should. It's a great local spot worth supporting. I'm a fan and I hope to visit again soon.

The fish and chips were delicious, but the service and cleanliness left much to be desired. The tables were sticky and covered in grease from the fried food, and the bathroom was in a similar state. To make matters worse, our food was brought out with a big gray hair on the plate. When I complained, the waitress simply shrugged and walked away without addressing the issue. For a small town restaurant, they need to improve their standards. I will not be returning.

You guys are amazing. A huge thank you for the delicious 5-star meal we had on our way home from the potato farm. The halibut and haddock were both exceptional in size and flavor. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, great conversation, and plan to make this a regular stop as we continue to purchase potatoes from the farm. The food was incredibly tasty, I highly recommend it to everyone!

After doing an online search, I saw very high reviews for this place. It was a little bit hard to see, but I was determined to find it. I’m sure glad I did! The fish and chips were outstanding, crisp, fresh, and perfect! I’m going...to try to remember this place the next time I’m in the area. The poutine also looked fantastic, and sometime when I’m in the mood I’d like to try that.
