Le Bistrot - Séné

This really is one of the hidden gems of Vannes. From the outside, it is unassuming. It's located on route de Nantes, which is not a pedestrian street. Next to it, there's an auto shop. You could drive or walk by it and never think to go in, but you could not be more wrong. Every day for lunch, they prepare a selection of specials that are as creative as they are delicious. The presentation and innovation borders on fine dining, but the prices are exceptionally low. The portions are moderately sized, meaning you won't feel bloated when you leave. You just won't believe how cheap the food is for the level of quality. I'm still surprised every time. The staff is lovely all around, and there's just a generally pleasant, sociable atmosphere in the place. Sometimes you may need to wait a bit for your order, but that's just because the place is usually packed. I've never had to make a reservation, but if you come late, you might find that the day's specials have run out. There's still a menu, which has plenty of good dishes, but the specials are really the thing to go for. From the outside, it looks quite bland, but don't let this fool you as the inside and the garden at the back are lovely. There is no real parking to speak of, but if you're cheeky you can use the large parking lot of the Chinese restaurant about 100 meters down the road. I feel bad for recommending this restaurant, because it's going to be even more crowded now, and it really doesn't look like they need the publicity, but it's just such an amazing place to eat that I cannot help. And I'm also moving away from Vannes soon!

I visited this restaurant with friends who had been before. A really good menu at a very reasonable price. I have driven past it very many times a never noticed it. Do not be put off from the plain frontage for inside and the garden area is very smart. If you go for lunch then it is advisable to get there early to get a table. It is very popular due to the reputation for good food and value. There is no parking on ste.

You could drive past and never think to eat here (we did for years! But it is one of the best value for money restaurants around. It is always busy, dishes sell out early on, hence the title of the review.
