The food was extremely greasy, with grease dripping off the homefries and bacon. My eggs, which were supposed to be over easy, came back overcooked and very greasy. My son's pancakes were also overdone. We will not be returning to this restaurant. My advice to them would be to go easy on the grease. On the plus side, the prices were reasonable.
The food at this restaurant is delicious. The Chef's Roulette is excellent, as you never know what dish you'll get, but it has always been satisfying. The salads are also fantastic, especially because they prepare many of the dressings in-house.
The next time, about a month later, I ordered takeout. When I got back to the office, I realized that it was not what I had ordered and paid for. My last visit was today, about a year after they opened. I ordered an egg salad sandwich on white bread with potato salad to go. However, when I opened the container at my office, I found a garden salad and a chicken/cheese grilled sandwich instead. It was tasty, but definitely not what I had ordered. Be prepared for surprises when dining here.
Lunch with friends, and our first time trying the bistro. The bistro is quite open feeling with a 'rustic' style, but comfortable. The service was painfully slow, as there was only one staff on; we waited well over minutes for our lunch, and watched...as those who arrived after us received their food and departed. We noted a party of four who sat at a table and were never approached; they put on their coats and left, after not being acknowledged for over minutes. Menu is mainly sandwiches and salads, along with soup of the day. Was disappointed with the lack of bread varieties for the sandwiches; essentially whole wheat or white, and sadly, it sure looked like purchased grocery store variety bread to us. Greek salad arrived and not an olive to be found; odd, for this type of salad and disappointing to one who just loves olives. Soup of the day was a small portion, but it was quite tasty. We ordered sandwiches and we are a bit disappointed when they arrived; basic bread, not even buttered, with a small amount of sandwich topping on a plate. I suppose we expected more for the price, which was well over for a sandwich and small salad. Choice of coffees and teas was nice. We were offered sweets for desserts, but then told there were none left after we ordered. Its a nice spot in a small town, its pricey for what you get, but it does offer a nice change from the fast food options in town.
The food at Midtown Bistro is limited to Soup, Sandwiches and salads which is fine for a Deli but is overpriced. I had the Wild-mushroom and Chicken Panini and it was fresh and tasty, the soup tasted more like Chili than vegetable soup, this came...to just shy of with tax. I am a believer that good food comes at a price BUT we are in Seaforth, not London or Toronto!!
