Perry's Plants River Gardens Cafe

We used to frequent this restaurant often, but were disappointed this time, as many others have mentioned in their reviews. We were expecting a large, homemade scone served on a plate with our choice of accompaniments, along with a teapot, milk jug, and cups for a traditional cream tea. What we received were small scones with poorly spread melted butter, served in paper trays with paper cups covered in plastic and wooden sticks. The prices were high and the staff seemed overwhelmed by the number of customers, resulting in long waits for a simple meal. While the setting was beautiful, it alone was not enough to make up for the subpar experience.

We absolutely adore this restaurant. We have visited a few times and always enjoy the peaceful setting by the river. The garden center is amazing and the staff are very friendly. The coffee is delicious and the snacks we tried were excellent. The ice cream is also very tasty. It can get quite crowded at times, so it's something to keep in mind.

I have been to this restaurant many times in the past, but I was quite disappointed with the scone with jam and cream that I had today. It was small and only had jam on one side, with squirty cream. It would have been better if I could have added my own jam and cream, as is customary. I did not enjoy it very much. Additionally, the cup of tea was weak. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. They now use paper cups and plates, probably because they have more tables and chairs. I am not sure if I will return.

After visiting this beautiful cafe for many years we were very disappointed to be served a dry scone in a cardboard box with jam and cream sandwiched within it. Actually not even proper cream but that squirty stuff. Come on it’s not difficult.

Called for coffee and cake, have visited on many occasions before, extremely disappointed! Everything served in paper cups, cake served in a cardboard dish and a wooden disposable fork! Oh no, no! Just doesn't taste the same! Order food at window outside and they give you a gadget that beeps when your orders ready, doesn't stop beeping till you collect your order, could imagine when its busy it could be irritating!; Staff member was having her lunch with a proper plate, metal cutlery and a mug! No return visit planned!
