Service was friendly, prompt and knowledgeable. Food: my wife and I had the prix fixe menu the potato leek soup was delicious as was my wife's salad. The steak I had was sumptuous. My wife had the salmon which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Very disappointed in the bar service. We arrived 15 minutes early and were seated at a table in the bar area. We thought to have a nice cocktail and then to dinner. No one approached us for over 5 minutes so we went to the bar. We were totally ignored by the bar staff. After several minutes one of the hosts approached asked if we had been helped. Yes we had but had no service so we came to the bar. They were a bit snippy and said OK. Again, no bartender even acknowledged our presence. We left the bar and sat in the foyer to wait on our table. Once seated in the dining area, our table service was excellent! Food was good quality and cooked well. I felt the menu was frankly boring but tasty. The bar service from the dining area was prompt when we ordered through our waiter. The drinks were good. I am afraid we will not be returning soon. There are other fine dining places with better bar service in the area. For instance Stark's
We have gone often in the past but had not been for a while. Menu had changed and there was a limited selection of items. The entrees were pretty boring-two steak options, three fish, and one broiled chicken breast. We arrived at 450 pm for a 5pm reservation. We were told they couldn't seat us until 5 so we had a drink at the bar. The cost of a glass of wine and a martini was $43 which I thought was ridiculously overpriced. When we went back to the hostess to be seated at 5 we were told we still had to wait even though the restaurant was fairly empty. We were seated finally ten minutes later. Overall a very disappointing experience-it feels like the restaurant had really gone downhill. I suspect others feel the same-it was a Friday night and both the bar and restaurant were only half full and every time we had been before the place was packed
We were very pleased to return to John Ash for the first time since 2015. The food and service were excellent. The weather was so perfect that we sat outside on the patio. It could not have been better.
We headed to John Ash for my husbands birthday. The restaurant and our waiter were for friendly and accommodating. Food was good. They had run out of some food which happens we understand. However, we waited over an hour from ordering for our main meals. It was only after one of the waitstaff replenishing glasses on an adjacent table overheard ask talking that it's been quite a while for our food that someone came over and apologized. They said that had gotten backed up in the kitchen but it was after 9pm at this point and only about 3-5 tables in the restaurant occupied. So I am highly suspicious that that was even the truth. We were at no point offered a free bottle of wine, comp drinks, nothing. At such a high end restaurant I would expect much more diligence. Disappointing unfortunately
