Contribuiți la feedbackService was pretty ropey, but at least friendly. Once we were finally attended to we ordered the lunch menu. The starter was fine, very simple, edible 'caldo de cocido ', 'ensalada rusa ' , and the main course was simply unedible! We were looking forward to some nice calamares, but in stead we got some rubbery strips of something that was supposed to resemble squid. It was simply horrible. Normally a lunch menu includes cafe and/or desert. As we didn 't- even try the desert, we had a coffee in stead. We had our coffee, which was neither worthy of any stars, and asked for our bill. Then we found out my water was not included what?... and neither was the coffee honestly!?... . The waitress kindly took the coffee off the final bill, still ending up paying over €12 per person! In the capital of Madrid you get a lot more quality food for less! Unbelievable. I will not be returning here.
The food was great and well worth the price. We wished that we would have ordered a tapa of each of their items as all that we tasted were good. They are located about 200 yards from castle Coca on the main road on the round about.
I came to La Muralla with my wife and father in law a couple of years ago following a visit to Coca's beautiful castle. There aren't too many places to dine in Coca and it was the first place we found. The interior has a bare, somewhat stripped down appearance that some might find old fashioned. It's not fancy but on a hot summer's day we weren't too bothered. You can have a 9 euro menu del dia but we opted for a la carte. We were trying to make up our minds as to what to order when the waiter told us that they had a surplus of cochinillo asado (roast suckling piglet very popular in these parts) because of a wedding party taking place. My Castilian father in law could not resist so we were all the happy recipients of a large amount of delicious tender pork. This was accompanied by a fine bottle of Ribera and finished with fresh fruit. We were all pleased with our lunch and service was good. It does help if you have some grasp of Spanish menus because in this part of the country you are not always guaranteed a translation or English speaking staff. This kind of restaurant exists all across Castile and Leon. The food can exceed all expectation in the most unpromising and unlikely places. If you are in Coca and fancy a meal I don't think you'll find better.
Volveremos.
