The interior feels like a cozy living room due to its conversion from a Victorian home, and the service was quite efficient. I recommend making a reservation, as the seating is limited. The beer selection is impressive, but the schnitzel was a bit dry that night. Everything else we tried, including the cucumber salad and cheese spatzle, was excellent. We'll definitely have to come back and give it another go.
Pro tip: opt for the larger beer steins instead of the smaller pint-sized ones. Order everything on the menu! If you can't finish it, take the leftovers home. You really have to try it all! Just a heads up about the residents in the building across the street; they can be a bit sketchy since it’s Section 8 housing that supports many individuals dealing with mental health issues. You might see them wandering around outside the restaurant at times, so it’s best to avoid making eye contact or engaging with them while they’re panhandling.
I still believe that Ludwig's has one of the best German food experiences in a beer garden in the South Bay. Their Jägerschnitzel is outstanding, and the Schweinshaxe features a wonderfully crunchy pork crust that I've become quite fond of. I also appreciate their reasonably-priced German drinks, which aren't always easy to find elsewhere. I tried the cherry wine and it was so delicious that I ended up spending a lot to order it online. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by for some Glühwein—hot mulled wine is perfect for a chilly winter evening. And definitely grab the haxen while you're there!

The beer is still excellent as always. However, I’m not sure if there’s a new chef or if someone else was in charge during our lunch visit, but the food quality has declined. The schnitzel was tough and had a texture reminiscent of a leather sole. The mushroom sauce was overly glutinous, to the point that even Campbell's soup could have done better. The spaetzle were overcooked, if that’s even possible. Overall, it was quite disappointing. I’m not sure if this was just an off day, but it certainly wasn’t as good as it used to be. Service: Dine-in.
