Fresh Roast - San Gabriel

Like most other people, I was drawn to Fresh Roast for their pandan coconut coffee hongkong egg waffles! This is your local no frills cafe run by an older Asian man. Service was quick and to the point, but not rude by any means. I visited on a Friday morning, and it wasn't too busy. Several tables were occupied by customers enjoying their morning coffee and getting some work or studying in. This is a decently sized cafe so there are plenty of tables. The wifi limit sign now says 2 hours (previously the limit was 1 hr). PANDAN COCONUT COFFEEThis was my first time trying this combo in coffee, but I love all 3 flavors individually. The flavor profile was very unique, with a super prominent coconut and pandan flavor and a hint of sweetness. The coffee was very strong though, with a slightly burnt bitter aftertaste. This is coming from someone who enjoys sweet creamy lattes though, so the coffee flavor may be fine for you. I wasn't completely in love with the drink, but it wasn't bad either. HONG KONG EGG WAFFLEThis is made fresh on order (as it should be), so it's served piping hot and streamy! I just ordered a plain original waffle with no filling or flavor. Texture wise, it was perfect the shell was crispy and golden, and the inside was a bouncy dough. Flavor wise, it was pretty good. I cant pinpoint what it's lacking, but I've had better. I liked it enough to order this again though if I'm ever craving it. Next time I'll probably try the pandan flavor.

This place has really legit coffee. You can tell they make their coffee with pride.Hot Coffee temptation coffee, vanilla, milk. Great bold flavor foamy. I enjoyed it but it was sweet for my taste. I would order it again but less sweet.Iced Vietnamese coffee a bit sweet but was great after adding some milk to it.Atmosphere was nice, lots of interesting displays and signs to look at. It's like sitting in my living room.... needs a good dusting and decluttering.

Stopped by for a grab and go coffee and breakfast this morning. It was our first time here, and the staff was so welcoming, friendly and efficient. Our group enjoyed the pandan coffees, Hanoi egg coffee, bubble waffle, fresh baked croissant and egg tarts. All of this came fairly efficiently, and was very tasty.There are good menu selection of hot or iced coffees, HK milk tea, bubble tea, Vietnamese coffee, cold drinks and breakfast/ lunch options. Milk alternatives (almond, soy milk) and indoor seating are available.

The place was cute and a little rustic looking. I got the pandan coffee and tbh it was not exactly what i expected! I think i would like the coffee more concentrated and the pandan to be less watery. Seems like a good place to do work though

Famous in our area for a good reason. Best coffee, best vibes, best everything. The definition of iykyk. Every single one of my friends from high school still comes here as regularly as they can and it hasn't changed in years. The coffee is freshly roasted on-site, the snacks are unique and all amazing, and the owner is passionate and sweet. This place will always be a staple and an icon. #iykyk #sgv #freshroastforever
