Wonderful Sushi - San Diego

Ok for the price. Easy and quick. They will charge you $1 for any modification even if it's for a less expensive substitution. I wanted spicy tuna in my roll instead of spicy scallops. Although it would have been a less expensive cost to the restaurant, they charge $1. Other than that it's fine. Simple straight forward

I’ve tried sushi in seven states and sixteen different cities, and this is some of the best I’ve tasted. They are very generous with the fish, unlike some places that skimp on quality and use mostly rice and cheap ingredients. Whenever my kids are asked where they want to eat, they immediately say, "Wonderful Sushi!" We’ve dined at many upscale sushi restaurants, but this one feels like home to us. Sure, there are fancier places out there, but the flavor here is truly exceptional.

Don 't usually write negative reviews for small businesses but the level of disrespect I recently experienced here compels me to forewarn future diners. Not only did they forget one of the rolls we ordered AND up-sold us a substitution nirigi that ended up being $10 more AND told us our order would be ready in 20 mins and it took nearly *double* that...but the kicker was me coming back to tell them they forgot some nigiri we ordered that they STILL charged us for, and then them suggesting we were lying when we asked for our money back. The cashier floppy hair, Nirvana sweatshirt made every single excuse in the book why he couldn 't do it oh, our owner is in church now! and even took a phone call without putting them on hold while we spoke to him. Full disclosure: I 'm from out of town, so no big whoop to them that I 'll never come back. But the guy I was with lives within walking distance and he 's very much a regular customer. Well, he WAS a regular customer. He won 't go back the way we were treated. He also told me the restaurant randomly erased his rewards points a month ago. Lastly: Cashier dude doesn 't really listen to Nirvana. You can just tell.

I recently visited Wonderful Sushi for dinner and unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. Firstly, the time it took for our food to be prepared was excessively long, leaving us feeling frustrated and hungry.When we finally received our dishes, the quality of the food was simply poor. The yakishoba was dry and lacking in flavour, while the tj roll appeared stale and unappetising. The veg roll was no exception, being bland and tasteless.Overall, I was extremely let down by the food at Wonderful Sushi. With such a delayed preparation time and such poor quality dishes, I would not recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a satisfying Japanese meal.

I think it's sad that they only have 3.5 stars. I've been very happy with Wonderful Sushi! They have a lot of variety on their menu, which is super helpful for this pregnant mama with sushi cravings. I was able to get several delicious rolls with fully cooked fish, and they tasted great. The salmon tempura crunch roll and scallop dynamite roll were both perfect. My husband got raw fish rolls the TJ roll and Philadelphia roll and both were great. No fishy smell like some reviews mentioned. everything smelled and tasted very fresh. The food was ready for pickup quickly and the lady who helped me was friendly and polite. I wouldn't really eat inside the restaurant because it looks old/outdated, but I'll happily keep coming back for takeout.
