Caffe Primo - San Diego

The best way I could describe the ambiente is: confused. they have wonderful eating, beautiful atmospheric lighting, and cool tables stand and bar sitting. but the first few things I saw when I came in were really unorientated: a cooler with soda and water is displayed as if I were in the line on the airport or in a lunch deli. a massive sign in front of the register, showing all breakfast smoothings, I could order a visible cash box on a bar next to the smoothie sign with a color cute wooden box on the counter, filled with Jalepeno potato chips. again an airport deli vibe. is this a restaurant, a deli, an breakfast place, a bar or what? our server was incredibly friendly and helpful. also eating was impressively good. really good. denk an pan bon. really good. her weelist is quite terrible, except the force of nature red mix that they were not on stock. my so tried the vigneti zabu nero d' avola and it tasted like a combination of twisted wee and dishwasher soap. we shared our experience with the waiting staff and asked instead of the william hill taxi.

Nice evening dinner for San Diego Restaurant Week with my out of town guest and my toddler. Comfortable seating which is a big plus for me. Huge space, great menu. Our service was average, and kitchen was slow getting our dishes but I believe that may have been a one-off. Overall, I would go back during the day for their smoothies and try other offerings.

I went to Caffe Primo for restaurant week with 4 other girls around happy hour which were great prices. The food was good, some of us got the featured dinner but the service was pretty awful. Happy hour ended at 6 and I usually like a heads up from the server in case you want to get anything else in. After dinners apps were brought out, it took 30 minutes for someone to check on us. There were maybe 3 other tables. It turned out fine bc we were all talking and digesting/waiting for dessert but that was seriously insane!

New place. Very chill! Good food and wine and beer. Nice East Village spot!

I visited Caffe Primo for restaurant week with four friends during happy hour, which offered some great deals. The food was good; some of us ordered dinner, but the service was quite disappointing. Happy hour ended at 6, and I usually like to give the server a heads-up if we want to order something else. After our appetizers were served, it took 30 minutes for anyone to check on us, even though there were only three other tables occupied. In the end, it worked out because we chatted and had a chance to digest before dessert, but the wait was really frustrating!
