Hi Sushi - Salt Lake City

I just discovered Hi Sushi today, and I was blown away by the outstanding food. Hajeong was wonderfully charming, and the sushi chef crafted a simple yet delicious spicy yellowtail roll. Along with some miso and gyoza, it made for a fantastic, straightforward lunch. You should definitely check it out for yourself! And don't forget to mention that Mister Sustainability sent you!

The service was really poor. The restaurant wasn't busy at all, yet we had to ask multiple times and wait about 20 minutes to receive a highchair for our one-year-old, while the family that arrived after us got theirs right away. They also forgot to bring some of the rolls we ordered, even though the server had me repeat the missing items when I placed the order. We didn't receive enough plates either, and there was no pickled ginger or soy sauce provided. The sushi itself was just average. I was surprised to find that the Funky sauce contained wasabi, as I’ve never been to a restaurant where that wasn’t noted on the menu. The rolls were on the smaller side. Overall, we spent $80 for a meal that was quite disappointing.

**Food:** Unfortunately, the quality has really declined. The dishes lacked care and flavor—I'd honestly say you might find better options at a grocery store. They even mixed in some stringy seaweed with the rice, which was nearly impossible to chew. I found myself pulling long strands out of my mouth while eating. One type of fish had an unpleasant taste, while the others were bland. There wasn’t even anything visually appealing enough to photograph. The previous owners put a lot of thought into their dishes, and you could genuinely taste the difference. To top it off, the miso soup was served ice cold. **Service:** The service was another disappointment. They forgot part of our order and initially tried to charge us for items we never received. They corrected the bill only after I pointed out the missing rolls. While taking our order, the waitstaff shouted questions to the chef across the restaurant, which was quite chaotic and unprofessional. I can't find anything positive to say about the service. **Alcohol:** They don't have a liquor license. Overall, I won’t be returning. It’s a shame they don't seem to appreciate the artistry of Japanese cuisine.

Loved it here! Very unassuming place, but my friend booked the karaoke room for a bachelorette party. The staff was quick and friendly and super accommodating. We showed up early to eat before karaoke, and they let us into the room a bit early.Definitely recommend the Katsu combo or the combo sushi!

As usual, it is one of my favorite spots to visit, 4 during lunchtime. Is close to my office, personnel is very amicable, food is always delicious, and service is pretty quick.
