Contribuiți la feedbackFast forward a year or two, and Noah opened a new restaurant in St. Paul. I ordered from there three times. The first experience was amazing—stunning brisket. However, the potato salad that came with it was bland and frankly disappointing. Not a typical experience, as the sides were usually good based on my previous orders. The next time I ordered, the brisket was dry and unpleasant. I was shocked because I had never experienced poor quality from Noah's restaurants before. I called to express my concerns, and they were very polite; they even offered a refund. However, I noticed that the side of beans I ordered was also bland and tasteless. Noah is an incredibly talented chef, so this was surprising—definitely a second strike. The third and final time I ordered was a letdown as well. The brisket was just average and didn’t measure up to what I had experienced in the past. I ordered hush puppies as a side, and when they arrived in a small, neat takeout box, I found only two hush puppies inside. This simply couldn’t be right. To summarize what happened with Noah, and hopefully to help anyone considering opening a restaurant, he made a classic mistake: he entrusted his restaurant to young staff making $15 to $20 an hour. There was no quality control—no tasting or checking of dishes. Everything was left in the hands of this young man, who just a few years earlier had served me an overly seasoned rib dish that could have raised serious health concerns. That young man was responsible for all three of my meals at the new restaurant, and it seems Noah failed to notice that he had no business running a kitchen. This oversight cost Noah his restaurant's reputation. Don’t repeat the same mistake Noah did by stepping away from the kitchen and neglecting to sample recipes or ensure quality control in your restaurant.
I visited for the first time and I'm so glad I did! Everything I tasted was absolutely delicious. The owner provided a lot of interesting insights into their cooking methods and how they source their ingredients. As someone who has enjoyed BBQ across the country, I can confidently say this place is a winner. Parking can be tricky since it's a busy corner, but it's definitely worth it. Food rating: 5/5.
I stopped by for a quick dinner last night, and I have to say, the hush puppies were outstanding! I loved the combination of flavors, and if I lived in town, they would definitely be my go-to starter. The pulled pork shoulder was tasty, but the sauces really elevated the dish. The Tongue Twister cocktail was perfectly spicy for my taste. I was hoping for a bit more meat for the price, but I guess prices can be quite variable these days. (The Tongue Twister cocktail was the first and last time I’ll have a drink under $10 in the US this year!!) The toast that came with the Pile O' Meat was a bit lackluster, but at least that saved me some calories. I wish there was a way to order drinks and food from the same place, but since it wasn’t busy when I visited, I was able to wait at the bar for my food while enjoying my cocktail. Fortunately, both the drink and my meal were ready at the same time!
Food delicious. Service great and quick, ambiance great. — I will be back. (Also price I thought was extremely reasonable and affordable, especially based on food qty! First, food, everything was well seasoned (salt people the wings are full big wings, crispy and the Tennessee hot sauce was great kick and flavor. Brisquet was well seasoned and smoky. All the sides were good! They had a wide range of sauces for those of us that like some spice : . But I ate the brisquet without sauce, it had enough flavor on its own. (I will try the pulled smoked turkey next time also “sea shells” style noodles Mac and cheese people DON’T SLEEP ON IT.Second, service so warm, Tyson and Noah were fantastic. Tyson took the time to welcome us, explain the food to us, how it was made, great warm authentic interaction. And fast service, we didn’t wait long to order or get our food.Third, location is very nice, we sat patio, lots of fun vines, bricks, lights, not too loud I will be back next summer to watch the sun go down. Inside, I will be back on a snowy wintery day to have a local beer (I saw pryes and indeed on tap and some good warm food.
Went here for lunch with my sister. Had a pulled pork sandwich with their vodka chile barbecue sauce, which applied quite well to the pork. Also had some nice and creamy pimento mac n cheese on the side. My sister is a vegetarian, but they have some pretty decent vegetarian side options, including the previously mentioned mac, their cole slaw, and their hush puppies, which were unexpectedly sweet but delicious nonetheless. Overall, a great meal, and some of the best I've had outside of the south.
