East Patio Mexicano - Sacramento

Excellent food and service. Nice place with a lovely patio.

My husband and I have visited East Patio a few times and have always been pleased with the food and service. However, our most recent experience has left us disappointed and we are unlikely to return. Upon entering, we waited to be greeted for a few minutes before a man approached us sharply and told us to sit wherever we wanted at a small table, without making eye contact. This was not a friendly welcome and made us question if we were wanted there. Our waitress was excellent, which is why we are giving a four-star rating. But the food left much to be desired. My husband's chicken taquitos were bland, and my carnitas enchiladas were undercooked with stale corn tortillas. Overall, Sacramento has better Mexican food options than East Patio. If you do choose to dine here, don't expect a warm welcome or delicious food.

Updating to previous review: Had to knock this place down a couple of stars as the quality of the food has taken a dive. This used to be our go-to local Mexican place. Came for dinner after not being here for the last couple of months and noticed that the place has changed, maybe under new management?The place itself looked much better. All the weird paintings we've come to love have been replaced with more standard ones and the lighting was much brighter than it used to. The service was still great and our server was pleasant and very attentive.Now the food. The menu was substantially reduced and the prices have definitely gone up (but none of that should be too surprising these days). The salsa tasted different but was fine. The chips on the other hand tasted stale. Our server offered to replace them but it would just be from the same batch. We had crunchy chicken tacos and chicken fajitas. The rice, beans, guac etc. themselves were great. The fajitas tasted fine but had waaaaay more peppers and onions than chicken considering the price. The tacos did not taste good, tasting both very greasy with the filling very slimy.Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be coming back and will be searching for a new regular place.

The service was attentive and the food was excellent during our two-hour visit on a Thursday night.

Really good salsa! The chili relleno was excellent. Looks like a neat place to stop in for a drink too. I will stop by when I'm back in Sacramento
