Restaurants have a way of putting a twist on traditional foods that can be good and interesting- this experience wasn’t! We chase to change regular poutine into perogie poutine. That just meant that they substituted perogies for French fries. The perogies were horrible- they were so over cooked and mushy that we couldn’t eat them. I threw them out and I Never throw food away!
It's fall and a pandemic is raging so many people want to feel safe and eat at home while finding ways to support our local businesses. We ordered pick up from Brewsters assuming that would be much safer. I will tell you that the food tasted great but because I had to walk through their busy bar to pick up my food order I won't be going back or ordering from them until this pandemic is well over. Any orders whether they are pick up or Skip the Dishes have to be collected from the busy bar area which had music playing loud enough that it was difficult to hear the staff behind the counter as we were both wearing masks. Consequently you have to talk really loudly (which is a no no during this pandemic) to tell them your name. I feel sorry for all those working for Skip the Dishes that have to do this time and time again. Why they can't keep the music lower and allow their guests to pick up their food in the least busy area is beyond me. The restaurant was practically empty.
Tried Brewster's for the first time a few months ago. I actually thought based on the name it was more of a bar but we'd just left a movie, knew not much else would be open didn't feel like driving across town so we just stopped there because they were In the same parking lot as the theater. Definitely feels more like a resturaunt. At least the area we were sitting in. I just had chicken fingers my husband had a burger but the food was good. We got a vanilla brownie dessert to-go that was super yummy. Our server was really good knowledgeable. She was even nice enough to bring us a bandaid when we needed one. I look forward to going back.
It was too windy to sit on the patio upon arrival so the group decided to have lunch inside. On the restaurant side there are mostly booths so seating is limited for a group. Tables along the windows were rearranged so a group of seven could be seated together. Service was satisfactory. Water glasses were not refilled but coffee was. Atmosphere was quiet for lunch. Lunch specials ordered were bowl of soup and signature salad (large) or chicken strips (3 pieces) with side. I had Not Mac and Cheese which was a dish of penne pasta, peas, bacon, chicken in a creamy sauce (cream and jalapeno cheese). I requested parmesan cheese and added the slivers of parmesan for more flavour. It was a large serving so I ate half and saved the rest to take home. The $16 pasta dish was good but not out of the ordinary.
Was a lovely evening. The three of us just reminiscing. We ordered appetizers while we visited. Love the lettuce wraps done with Teriyaki. And the Perogies are phenominal. This visit, we sat in the restraunt area opposed to the bar area. We noted that the seating in the restraunt is tired very worn. They need to tend to some cosmetic work in the customer areas for sure. Will be back tho!
