Cru Wine Shop - Redwood City

This is still a hidden gem but won't be for long. Donato has done it again with a great restaurant and concept. We've been long time fans of Donato since he opened Enoteca in Redwood City (just down the street from Cru). Not only can you dine here, you can get coffee to go (whole beans or brewed), olive oil, wine, and other goodies. Or drink the bottle you just bought at Cru. The atmosphere is friendly, hip, with great energy and light. I've even worked in here a few days this week and will continue to do so. Since it's right by the train station, it's easy to meet colleagues traveling by train. The charcuterie is a must as are the pastrami sliders. The croissants are freshly baked each day at Enoteca and are flaky and delicious. And if you are into soccer, you will find some friends (or foes) sitting at the counter watching the huge screen and cheering (or booing) in a friendly way. Check it out. We love what is happening in Redwood City...and Cru is a super positive addition.

We have been visiting this restaurant since it opened a year ago, and we absolutely love it. On Sundays, they feature live jazz from 4 to 7 PM, making it a wonderful spot to gather with friends and enjoy wine, music, conversation, and delicious food if you're feeling hungry.

A new discovery for us when we received an email from Donato Enoteca for a wine tasting event at Cru. Decided to give it a try and we were very happy we did! Great tapas style food, cool and chillaxing ambiance and wonderful service! Extensive wine list. We did not even know the Happy Hour was from 4 to 6 pm, so it was a pleasant surprise to see the discount on our bill. Will definitely try one of its weekly Sat wine tasting and Sunday jazz performances.

What a magical place to spend Sunday afternoon with friends. Great wine, classic jazz, and a relaxed atmosphere.
