Danish Cafe - Red Bank

This is a fantastic little place for breakfast! It's very convenient, located right by the train station, and they serve excellent coffee. The staff are wonderful as well. I highly recommend checking this place out!

Where else can you find a genuine taste of the often overlooked Scandinavian cuisine? The Danish Cafe is a charming yet remarkable spot located in a quieter area of the typically lively Red Bank. The menu features authentic Scandinavian dishes, including various salmon options, rye bread, and cheeses. However, my true passion lies in their desserts, and their blueberry coffee cake is exceptional, while their apple cake is absolutely outstanding. The Danish Cafe also offers freshly made danishes—I've heard the owners bring them in from Denmark every week! The raspberry and apple varieties are the best I've had. The coffee is consistently excellent, the portions are generous and thoughtfully presented, making this place a hidden gem worth visiting. It's an experience that will leave you wanting to return time and time again!

The cafe itself is spacious and airy, with plenty of natural light and high ceilings, creating a positive environment. They also offer free, reliable wifi, and as one of the staff members said, "We never kick anyone out!" When I work from their dining area for the day, I make it a point to order something every couple of hours to support them. The food is fantastic! I particularly enjoy the Chicken Douglas (grilled chicken, curried mayo, pineapple, and bacon on ciabatta), which is light yet satisfying, and comes with a small salad on the side. While some traditional Danish offerings might seem a bit daunting for American diners, they're more approachable than you might think. Their coffee is quite strong; my boyfriend appreciates that, but if you prefer a milder taste, you can always add a shot of flavor to your latte, as I do. Just a heads up! I haven't experienced any issues with slow service, unlike some other reviewers. The cafe has been around for a few months now, so they may have ironed out any initial problems and found their rhythm. I truly love it here and feel that Red Bank has gained a real gem in the Danish Cafe.

This is my favorite café in town! The ham, egg, and cheese sandwich is absolutely delicious! The atmosphere is nice, quiet, and cozy. Nikki is always friendly and helpful!

I hosted a wedding rehearsal brunch at this restaurant, and it was fantastic. They served an impressive amount of food, and everything was delicious. I will definitely return, and likely more than once!
