We just happened to walk into this restaurant one night walking through Port Douglas, we decided to have the Lamb shoulder with mash potato and greens which was the best quality of these foods we'd ever had. The lamb was melt in your mouth and the mash potato must have been 60% potato and 40% butter, it was just fantastic. The service was great, drinks were really good and it was well priced, we'll defiantly come back again.
It was kind of difficult, actually getting a reservation at our favourite restaurant, Harrison's in Port Douglas. Now Bistro H, it as good as its previous namesake. After four years, we still enjoyed the excellent service, delicious food and yes, we succumbed to the chateaubriand served with truffled mash and beans. The meat was like soft velvet with our choice of bearnaise sauce, the mash smooth and the green beans, perfectly cooked and crunchy. Sitting on their verandah, looking out onto the prettily lit tree and park beyond, makes this a fine dining experience with the casual atmosphere of a bistro.
I organised a large conference group to dine here for dinner and from the moment we arrived we were treated so, so well. The service was impeccable and all the waiters and waitresses were so attentive. We had the feasting plates and the food was amazing. We started with home made bread and salted butter, cauliflower popcorn and prawn toasted charcoal bread. The mains included slow roasted lamb, pork belly, whole fish and then desserts. Wine and water were constantly topped up throughout the night. We had tables on the deck and the entire garden area wS lit up with fairy lights; so pretty 10/10
I ate here a while ago and was the first diner to arrive for a lunchtime meal, and I was with my son. The waiter eventually came back to take our order, and then we waited, and waited, and waited. When we did get the meal, I was wondering how the price of the meal was justified, and why it had taken so long given we were literally the only ones there, and the meals were not rocket science! The price was extremely over-inflated, and the food was very average - obviously I was paying for the fact that the owner/chef had earned stars. The service was practically non-existent and as such, I vowed never to eat there again. Very disappointed :(
