Mr. Mario's - Playa del Carmen

This place is away from the tourist areas, which I love. Great service low prices. The fish tacos were nothing short of amazing. The reviews were right about this place.

Just had lunch here. Menu was in Spanish but the chef came out and explained whole menu. My wife had the grouper and I had cervache, both went down a treat. Hope to get back before we leave to try paella. Albert

Visited Mr. Mario's today.. We are staying on 5th and 38th, so it was about a 6 block walk to Mr. Mario's. The food was absolutely fabulous, and the prices were very low. $4 for shrimp tacos and beers were $1.50. We had the Shrimp Cocktail, Guacamole and Chips, Shrimp Tacos, Fish Tacos and Fresh Conk. The owner buys his seafood fresh everyday directly from the fishermen at their boats as they come in with their daily catch. My mouth is still watering. It's a little off the beaten path, but well worth the trip. I would suggest walking west on 46th (away from the beach), then take a left on 20th and a right on 44th. It will be on your left with the bluish green awning. By far the best seafood in Playa Del Carmen.

You need to go to Mr Marios it was nothing short of outstanding! We were tipped off by our cab driver about this place and really goes to show locals know best. We went twice and wish we went everyday. First day we ordered fish and guacamole with margaritas (the best margarita in town- many places in playa we found watered down or diluted and overly sweet- Mr Marios was perfecto!) The second visit the marinated octopus was recommended to us- it was one of the best things I've ever eaten. My husband had the oysters they were fresh and delicious. Thank you Mr Marios for a wonderful true Mexican experience couldn't recommend more:)

Had the pleasure of eating at Mr Mario's during our recent visit to Playa del Carmen. A quick trip from 5th, this place has the local charm and some of the freshest seafood Playa has to offer. We stuffed ourselves on fresh sashimi, savory crab and some of the best filet and lobster tail I've ever had! Save room for drinks and dessert...you'll be glad you did. We will definitely be back again and again!
