Mary Brown's Fried Chicken - Pickering

We sometimes get the perpetrators here for a treat and a taste of home (Newfoundland). It is definitely a sometimes food!

For those of you who have never been to Newfoundland, allow me to introduce you to Mary Brown's. Mary Brown's is to Newfoundland, what Starbucks is to Seattle. Seriously, there is a Mary Brown on almost every street corner in St John's, and sometimes a lineup out the door. Best chicken known to man, and their french fried taters are wonderful too. And now we have this east coast delicacy here in Pickering !

It had always been Popeye's for me until I discovered the savoury deliciousness of Mary Brown's.

I tried this due to local recommendations from people at the site I was working . Great chicken it is so much better than KFC aling the lines of Popeye's. I will be ,back when in Canada. Great for lunch. Well worth the trip as i wanted some good fried chicken. I want one of these resturants in the states. Apparently this recipe is from Newfoundland. The fries were good as well they are skin on and taste very fresh. I will have to try to visit again before I leave the country. I would hihgly recommend this to anyone who is looking for good fried chicken. Better than places I have eaten in the southern states.

I love Mary Brown's - preferred to KFC or Popeyes. Of course because of the extremely high fat and calorie count it has to be an occasional treat. This location is good and has decent specials. The only drawback is you often have to wait as they cook very little ahead. That said at least it's fresh and hot.
