Love this place, great history and the Guitar museum is very cool. Attended a live music even there, they have a very cool stage and seating for a small crowd.
This is what Rock n' Roll is all about, super cool place to hang out. If I could only do one wine club, this place would be the one. I'm a long haired rockin' guitar player, so there's that.
My girlfriend had passed on her comments about the memorabilia Gary has stashed at his guitar cellars. An electric guitar manufacturer in the 1970s, he created the first aluminum necked guitar. Enough on the history, but it's not uncommon when you arrive to see Gary behind the bar, tipping a beer, telling stories and making his patrons feel welcomed, even if they came to look at the history on the walls. The Cellars is part museum, part wine tasting bar and part rock venue. The entire facility is 100% class! Along with Gary, I've spoke to Damien, picking people up in downtown Paso (city center park) and driving them to GK. Behind the wine bar I've been served by Lacy and Chrissy, both knowledgeable and wonderful to talk to. Also met Laura (winemaker) and told her the entire operation was fantastic! The wine? Well I became a wine club member. They has two different flights to try for $15 and $20 (if I recall correct), the higher priced being a reserve type offering. That's what drew me to the wine club. He's got a fantastic 2018 Petit-Cab from 50% Petit Verdot and Cabernet. I've sampled others just as good. Big Red is a good offering, as was the Merlot-Verdot. Last month I'd grabbed a few bottles of his Rose made from Alicante Bouschet grapes. This too was wonderful! For me, GK wine cellars ticks all the boxes! Great facility and people. Enjoyable events and food, all g with some great wine. I didn't even mention the green olives, Castrelventrano grown in southwestern Sicily. These olives are out of the world. Ask for them, take some home. Worth the $15! While out of the mainstream, when it comes to location, GKGC is a fantastic place to visit, relax and sample what they have to offer.
Really good wine, great people, live music and a guitar museum, all worth the visit
