The place put me off on first sight, however since there was no other option, I chose to stay put and had an experience of the countryside sweetmeats, sweeter than anywhere else (this, you see, is the sugarcane belt! . After a while, my driver introduced me to the speciality of Pali, which is Bhuna Aloo, potatoes bhunoed or baked in sand and served with a masala salt and chutney.... it is yummy and costs just ₹20 for 250 grams at about four roadside shops.
