Cardboard Corner Cafe - Overland Park

I love the employees, the atmosphere, the games and the location. I want to give it 5 stars but I can’t because of the food.I’ve been here many times and I’m always disappointed by the food:-Most of the sweet waffles are too much (almost like stunt food, just a gross amount of toppings and sugar)-The savory waffles aren’t my thing… dry and grainy-the hummus is bland-the fried chicken tastes and looks like a chicken tender that came out of a grocery store freezer.-The chips and dips were the worst thing I’ve had in a while. The “salsa” tasted like pasta sauce and the chips were stale. Cheese was… OK but not enough.On top of all of this, most of the food is expensive relative to what you get.The only thing I loved was the waffle fries, but they took them away a long time ago. (please bring them back!!)I know they are limited by not having a full kitchen, but I cannot order food anymore. Hopefully the new location will have a better kitchen setup. I’ll definitely change my review if the food improves!

If you are a ttrpg'r or just into board games, or really, just want to hang out with other geeks, this is our place! The food is alright even if it's all waffle oriented, and the drinks are great. Grab a board game off the shelve and play around while you snack with friends.

The atmosphere in this place is fantastic, and there are people all over the cafe playing any number of games from board to TTRPG.Service is usually excellent, but they have been shorthanded lately (as a lot of places . Even with that said, you can tell they are trying their best to accommodate the customers as quickly as they can.They feature a QR based food ordering system, and it is all waffle-based. While it's not my favorite type of food, there is a constant stream of food orders coming over the bar. They do serve alcohol, and in addition to beer, they also have a weekly(? special mixed drink.It's a fun place with a cool relaxing atmosphere, and if you enjoy playing games, you will probably enjoy this place as much as I do.Parking: If this place gets busy, parking can be a bit difficult to find sometimes. For instance, during a party, you may be parking the width of 15 parked cars away.Wheelchair accessibility: The main curb outside does have a wheelchair accessible ramp, I do not believe CCC's doors have automatic opening for wheelchair users. That said, the two levels of the cafe and it's neighboring store does have a ramp between those two that is fairly easy to access, and long enough to not cause significant issues.

WAFFLES!! WAFFLES!! WAFFLES!! Chicken waffles! cookies waffles! corn dogs in waffles! WITH ketchup! (Might be catsup) salad on waffles! Vegan waffles! Carnivore waffles! VEGAN CHICKEN WAFFLES!! Part of me wants to know how this was done. The rest wants to believe there's a flock of vegetablist chickens somewhere.Pop, beer, and liquor, not on waffles!However, this place has found a better pairing for their waffles..GAMES! GAMES! GAMES! Lots of games. Card games, board games, train games, and even Catan. They have map games and even a table covered in a 3 dimensional landscape so you can watch teenagers make airplane noises as they fly them.They have really complicated games.I assume there are easy ones. Our game picker doesn't believe in them. Which makes the relaxed no rush atmosphere VERY nice. Our waiter was awesome and didn't mind our 2 hour dinner at all. Ok, I was the waiter. They make the food, but like the games, you have to go get it. It's a reasonable trade, though.This is one of the best places in town to eat. The food is good. The menu is surprisingly diverse. The atmosphere is awesome. It's games and waffles. How is that not going to be an enjoyable meal?Vegetarian options: They have them. The menu section is big and diverse as the other sections. I did not have one of these dishes myself, but those that did, liked them.Dietary restrictions: There is a gluten-free section.Kid-friendliness: While they serve the right food and have the games, not all the games are easy to play or even understand. For kids or adults. Just pick appropriately.
