My girlfriend ordered the Pork Belly sandwich because she 's Asian and 'Hella Basic ' (Her words). I don 't remember what I ordered but, I think it was called the, 'I 'm not paying attention and this is the wrong sandwich '. I wasn 't impressed. It was a fine sandwich but not enough to get me back there until today, 9 months later. My girlfriend psychotically loved her sandwich because, as I mentioned earlier, SHE BASIC. Any who, I walked in today starving, as I had skipped lunch, and I really wanted a sandwich. I carefully skimmed the menu and landed on the Amarillo by Morning. To say that this sandwich was amazing is like saying, 'Nukes are a bad idea. ' It 's just a disastrous understatement. This sandwich is the reason I will get out of bed tomorrow. It 's the sandwich all other sandwiches should be measured against. The combination of flavors present reminds me of the legendary music from 'Wild Stallions '. Music that aligned the stars and brought about world peace. It 's what we need in this world. To summarize, when patronizing this lovely local sandwich venue, just order the AMARILLO BY MORNING! Don 't hesitate. Don 't deliberate. Just do it. Your perception will be forever changed. Also, this place has a great happy hour with a lovingly curated Beer list, wine list and even a cider list. All those things together make for a stop worth your while. Tl;DR If you don 't like awesome, good things, go somewhere else.
SO HAPPY this place opened up. I miss the cheese shop, but Stay Gold is fantastic. Really laid back, incredible sandwiches, a really nice vibe inside. The BB sandwich in particular was awesome. This may be my new favorite place to grab a sandwich and watch a game the Kingfish.
The food is delicious and the concepts are good. I feel it's a little pricy for lunch, but they have to pay the rent, yo. I had a Amarillo by Morning sandwich. The brisket was excellent and moist, and the spiciness was a slow burn that didn't overwhelm the aenses. Very delicious.
This was a fantastic place in Oakland, and the sandwich selection was excellent. While I wasn't thrilled with my sandwich — the bread felt a bit dry — I have a feeling it's usually really great. They also offer a nice selection of wine and beer.
The meat is smoked to perfection. You absolutely have to try the Brisket Sandwich, Pulled Pork, and Pork Belly stuffed with Collard Greens!
