Cafe Van Kleef - Oakland

This bar has consistently had a positive, welcoming and friendly vibe regardless of the night I come here for grapefruit cocktails of endless varieties. From the bouncer, to the bar staff, to the clientele, this place is always warm, inviting and features great music really well priced cocktails. CVK is possibly the least pretentious bar in downtown Oakland and I love them for that

One of the oldest bars in Oakland is what I was told, I believe it. Waking in the bar Oat Benatar was playing and one immediately notices all the character of this establishment. If you're headed to downtown Oakland for a show at the Paramount this is a most stop to enjoy a Grayhound, you will not find a better one anywhere. Just be warned but there is no food but the atmosphere makes it an amazing place to visit, makes me wish I was a local.

Believe the hype! This place is amazing. We had to try a few different types of greyhounds, but I think the classic is the best. This place is just a great, old school bar. I wish they had food but I guess they're just focusing on the one thing they do best: greyhounds!

Always delighted to visit cafe Van Kleef! It's a neighborhood staple. Consistently fresh and delicious greyhounds, fabulous and friendly staff, great knick knacks to oogle at, and a friendly environment that conjurs convos with strangers who become friends.

One of the first to root in uptown and one of the few still standing during this pandemic. Classic. Known for their greyhounds. Now with outdoor seating. Can phone in a food order from the (filipino? restaurant across the street to be delivered to your table to go along with your greyhound.
