Contribuiți la feedbackThe fried rice was served quite quickly, but then there was a bit of wait for the xiao long bao, noodle soup and potsickers, in that order.<br/ <br/ The price is typical for the quantity of food and we took home 1/2 the fried rice. However, there was nothing special for us to return anytime soon.
Today, I’m going to introduce you to The Dumpling King ! It’s located in the same plaza as Korean Grill House and CoCo at Midland and Finch. I came here with my parents and they did the ordering so forgive me as I don’t know the name of these dishes. Clear glass noodles with vegetables and pork balls in soup!
Food 4/5 (50% of final grade <br/ <br/ The steamed dumplings gush super hot lava of pork soup and flavour on the first bite. The pan fried dumplings deliver an 'ouch! ' moment followed by culinary excellence. This dumpling place tastes pretty authentic and up to standard. Definitely a place to go back to time and time again for a small group of friends or family!<br/ <br/ Ambiance 2.5/5 (15% of final grade <br/ <br/ The establishment itself wasn 't extravagant at all, but a very typical Northern Chinese restaurant. That being said, they feel clean enough, and is definitely a place most natives would feel very comfortable in not too extravagant and very homely. Up to par, so to speak.<br/ <br/ Service 2.5/5 (15% of final grade <br/ <br/ Service is pretty standard for an authentic Chinese restaurant wave them down, or else they won 't come to you, even when it 's not busy at all. They did, however, deliver the menus right after we sat down, and came promptly on command, which gives them an up to par status. The food came at appropriate time intervals, but the service isn 't something people would comment on, good or bad.<br/ <br/ Cost 2.5/5 (10% of final grade <br/ <br/ The price is pretty fair for the quality of the food, and the ambiance. Though not considered 'cheap ' for lunch, it is very nice for a casual dinner among friends. In general, affordable, but standard and not especially amazing quality for price, though the food quality was decent enough for me to consider it for dinner whenever I 'm in the area.<br/ <br/ Other 2/5 (10% of final grade <br/ <br/ Brownie points round! My friend and I were seated right when we stepped through the door! That was pretty nice. <br/ <br/ Final Grade 64/100 3.5 stars!<br/ <br/ Rounded up after general consideration<br/ <br/ Summary: Yum is its name! Definitely check this out if you want some casual Northern Chinese food, and if you 're in the area! Not a place for you to hike to if you aren 't in the area though. I won 't drive any more than 15 minutes for a place like this one :
This place holds true to its name- it's dumplings are delicious! All the other foods are pretty standard (hot and sour soup was terrible). Food portions are really large (can serve at least 4 people). The waitress failed to tell us that (there was only two of us) so be warned! I would definitely go back just to try the dumplings again.
Northern style Chinese Restaurant that offers up more than just dumplings and northern style dim sum. The place itself is located in the Chinese plaza hiding around the Midland/Finch area. The restaurant is rather clean and service is real quick actually. <br/ <br/ We ordered Jellyfish salad, pan fried dumplings, smoked duck, and the special, which was like a vermicelli soup with baby bok choy and housemade fish meatballs. The jellyfish salad was the first dish, and unfortunately, the worst. The dish itself was completely bland with no salt, spice, or even some sesame oil. Just a load of garlic. The pan fried dumplings were great. The skin was pan seared nicely while the dumpling was filled with large amounts of meat. <br/ <br/ The smoked duck was done very nicely. We ordered a half portion and there was so much duck. Definitely felt more like more than just a half. The skin was crisp as I believe the duck was lightly fried as well. The Special that they had was a clear broth soup filled with baby bok choy, clear vermicelli, and home made fish meatballs. The meatballs were very tender and made fresh where you can see that it might have been the same filling they use for the dumplings.<br/ <br/ Overall, the restaurant was very good. Other than the jellyfish, I was a fan of all the other dishes. The smoked duck was my favorite and definitely will be something I'd continue to order. The service was quick and friendly enough. Worth a stop over even though there are so many restaurants around.
