Cannoli was one of the reasons that I asked and now have a new address to choose from if/when I'm in the area.<br/ Agincourt Bakery and Italian Kitchen is a convenient small place near Pharmacy/Finch. The food counter is probably the busiest area where you have a variety of sandwiches to select from in addition to the different toppings that you can add. I went for the straight-ahead veal sandwich with mushrooms. I also had a bite of the meatball sandwich topped with mozzarella. We also tried the classic arancini, the big ball of rice with a ground meat and peas filling. The person behind the counter was very patient and was ready to offer suggestions among all the choices possible.<br/ <br/ You can also order platters or meals to go. There were just a few tables inside with a tv to keep you occupied as well as a few tables outside since today finally felt like Spring.<br/ They have a deli counter in case you miss something or you don't want to go to the store as well as other quick pick ups such as arborio rice, pastas, and olives from an olive bar. <br/ Finally they have a nice display of cakes, mini-cakes, and italian cookies.<br/ Mom and pop were seen in the kitchen and this small place has been around for years.<br/ Hopefully they will stick around a while longer.
Nice Italian Bakery hidden in the corner of an old shopping plaza on Pharmacy right off Finch. <br/ <br/ Agincourt Bakery is a small family run Italian bakery that offers up Italian desserts, breads, antipasto, and cheeses. But besides that stuff, the real reason I showed up was to take on the Veal Sandwich I heard much about. The meal counter offers up a variety of classics like homemade lasagna, cheese tortellini and homemade meatballs. <br/ <br/ The Veal Sandwich was just alright. I wasn't sure what the big deal was. The sandwich itself is a messy one, so make sure you make good use of the napkins around. The bread is crunch on the outside and was very warm and soft on the inside. The breaded veal cutlets are soaking in the sauce, so the light breading actually becomes way too soggy. Many other places dip the veal in sauce which works much better. The taste was a bit sour, but the meat was tender. The sandwich has to be ordered with cheese (provolone or mozzarella recommended). <br/ <br/ We also got an order of the cheese tortellini to take home because it looked great. The taste was good. The shells were stuffed to the brim and the sauce was rich and creamy. Make sure you eat it while it's hot, because it doesn't get better in the fridge. (We're idiots)<br/ <br/ I would come early when everything is freshly made. We arrived a bit later in the afternoon, so many of the items on the hot counter were just sitting around. Besides the hot counters, the bakery and desserts looked incredible. Will probably come back to try some.
I LOVE the veal sandwiches here. <br/ I shared a gargantuan veal sandwich with my sister today and we were both quite filled up. I could never finish one by myself.<br/ <br/ The owners are very nice Italians and will happily prepare for you one of their excellent veal, eggplant, or meatball sandwiches. <br/ <br/ Since Francesca Bakery is a little out of the way for me, I usually come here instead, which offers similar tasty food for great prices. <br/ There is nothing like a veal sandwich with their delicious homemade sauce, sautéed onions, hot peppers and some cheese (make sure you ask for provolone). Yummy!<br/ Their pastas and pizzas are great as well. They have a giant selection of desserts, deli meats and Italian imports. <br/ My mother ordered the chicken, vegetables, and rapini. The vegetables were a little undercooked, but were covered in their divine pomodoro sauce, so down the hatch it went. <br/ My cousin's and dad's pizza was also delicious.<br/ I picked up a bag of pizza (two slices for $3) for my lunch tomorrow. <br/ Agincourt Bakery is a staple. If you're in the area, you MUST eat here!
I grew up eating here. The owners are very kind and pleasant Italian folk. Many lunches and after school sandwiches were had here. Their food is hot and tasty and very saucy. The veal on a bun or meatball sandwiches are fantastic. And their eggplant sandwich is delicious. <br/ <br/ My personal favourite: veal on a bun with mushrooms, sweet peppers, extra sauce, grated Parmesan cheese. Mmmmmm.
Everything They Sell. I worked in the west end of Toronto for 20 years where Italian Bakeries were everywhere. When I started working in the Scarborough area I missed those true Italian meals. Then I found Agincourt Bakery and I can say without reservation it is the BEST Italian Bakery I have every visited. Family run, friendly, great food and all at a reasonable price. I have sent many friends there and everyone has agreed with me.
