A family meal for 6 started well enough but our waiter appears to have gone home.Have waited 45 mins for the desert menu and the drinks we ordered. Deserts arrived .. pleasant , but uninspired. Growing old waiting for someone to bring a bill.Overall , food when it arrived , was good but the service is average at best .
On our first day in Nice we walked down the Rue de France, the pedestrian street, packed wall to wall with tourists. There were many restaurants and cafes on the street but the ambiance of pure tourist population was off-putting. So we walked onto a nearby street and asked a local shop owner what she would recommend and she sent us here. A very good suggestion as it turned out. We made our reservation with Jean-Louis the manager, very charming fellow. Everyone sat outside as there are indeed 2 terraces. I had the 22 euro menu. Started with the Thai tuna salad. Wow. Fresh cubes of tuna marinated and cooked and succulent. In a somewhat Asian dressing with salad. Way better than I expected. I followed that with grilled swordfish, fresh as can be. I believe this menu gave the option of starter and main dish or main dish and dessert. We tried to make a reservation for the following evening but sadly the restaurant was closed on Sundays.
We ate here last night, food was lovely with a nice friendly waiter serving us.I had the duck with blueberry sauce and a jacket potato, lovely, the only minor criticism was it was under seasoned and I felt the sauce could have been sweeter, but a little bit of salt added and it brought the dish to life. My wife's prawn tagliatelle was also under seasoned, just needed a little bit more salt, other than that both dishes were lovely. We finished with lemon meringue pie, absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend.
Above and beyond for service, plus food and drinks are excellent (we had the duck and swordfish with Rosé accompaniment-of course) with good atmosphere (non-touristy). Love it, it's a shame we only found it on our last night here.
