The Surf - New Shoreham

The menu features a wide variety of seafood dishes, including lobster, fish, and clams, as well as a fantastic selection of pasta and salads. The Surf is a popular choice among both locals and tourists, making it a great place for a delicious meal. I highly recommend trying the clam chowder and onion rings; you won't be disappointed. If you have dietary restrictions or prefer vegetarian options, it’s best to check with your server. The restaurant is family-friendly and easily accessible for tourists on foot, and it also offers wheelchair access around the hotel.

During my visit, there were some staffing issues, and I only had a drink. They definitely need to work on this aspect.

This restaurant is on the decline. Although the views are fantastic, the cleanliness could definitely be improved—our table wasn't even wiped down. There’s no waitstaff, which means you have to queue at the bar just to get a drink and place your order. With only one person handling orders for the whole place, the wait can be ridiculous, especially when there are ten people ahead of you. It's frustrating that they charge prices similar to other restaurants that truly care about their atmosphere and customer experience.

The service was disappointing. I was really let down by the food; the portion sizes were small, the temperature inconsistent, and the overall quality was lacking. You have to order your food and drinks at the bar and pay upfront, including tips. Everything is served at once on paper plates with disposable utensils. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is because of the view.

We visited this restaurant with a group of 15 and were seated in a charming surf shack with a great view of the beach. Unfortunately, after waiting for over an hour, we learned that there were no waiters available and that large parties would only receive bar service. The place used to be fantastic, but since the management change, the service has significantly declined, and the menu options have been noticeably reduced. Consequently, we decided to call The National across the street, and they graciously accommodated our large group without any wait. The service there was outstanding, and the food was delicious. Regrettably, we can no longer recommend this restaurant for anything beyond drinks at the bar.
