We thoroughly enjoyed our beer and pizza break here. Good pizza and great people watching amongst the historic OLD TOWN buildings
Whenever I see a pizzeria, I check its menu to see if it serves a seafood pizza. Ever since I enjoyed one in Pesaro, Italy, a decade ago, I have searched for and eaten seafood pizzas. Pizzeria Jacques Carter menu lists the a Fruits de Mer pizza. My wife ordered moules frites which needed more liquid for dipping and more seasoning for taste. My seafood pizza was genuinely disappointing thin limp crust, tiny popcorn shrimp, random small pieces of smoked salmon, and no other seafood. The place was busy and service was slow.
It was seafood festival and our fish and chips were frozen fillets one could get from the grocery store (ditto the coleslaw) and the fries were cremated. Pop/soda was flat and they were out of half of the beer on the menu. I could have made the meal in our airbnb for 1/10th the price and got the same results. I thought this was supposed to be a FESTIVAL menu...more like a cheaping out to the tourists fes
Expensive mistake that was the result of not reading reviews before trying out this sparsely occupied place. Even the very few patrons seated there when all neighbouring joints were having long line ups should have made us second guess our choice. Unfortunately we were tired and in need of getting a meal quickly so we ventured to the patio. The server Elena was a rude and arrogant lady who didn’t bother even bringing cutlery or cleaning the table before seating us. So, we had leftover food stains and sauce on the table while we ate. The food and drinks were another matter altogether. Ordered a screwdriver and it had zero alcohol in it…just plain orange juice. So much so that we couldn’t differentiate between the screwdriver I ordered and the orange juice that my husband was having. Both tasted identical!! The salad sides that came with our salmon mains were inedible as they just seemed to be swimming in salad dressing. The salmon was terrible as well and even lacked basic seasoning of salt or anything else. Just horrible food and a horrible server Elena. The last incident that capped off a disastrous meal was when I asked for a paper napkin at the end (which wasn’t provided at the table btw) and the lady Elena brings one to me in her hand (these are Covid times and she handled my paper napkin in her hand) and lo and behold…there was fiid stuck on to it from God knows where!!! I chucked it away, paid 90$ CAD including a tip of 15% for this terrible service and dashed away never ever to make the mistake of avoiding reading reviews before trying out new places.
