McKibbins Irish Pub - Montréal

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day on a Friday in Montreal at Upstairs with the talented bartender Shaun. A truly enjoyable experience. Thank you Glenn and Chantal.

I was at this restaurant for lunch on their terrace last summer. I had the fish chips and it was very crispy good. Last night, January 27, 2023, I went back for the same. This time however I am convinced the fish was reheated in a microwave. The batter had no crispness and it was on the soggy side. I do a fair amount of cooking myself and I use a deep fry machine. What I received last night was not Irish Pub food. Below standards. If they keep serving the quality I experienced they will hurt their reputation for sure.

No hot whiskey, and bad Guinness. One would expect at least a knowledge of Irish drinks. Add slow service for the worst Irish experience.

Nice pub . Great food. Good and quick service. Cool ambiance. But I am learning many restaurants/ bars here are adults only particularly on St Laurent and other parts of Montreal. Unlike in other towns where it’s adults only at bar and all others can still dine at tables in restaurant. So leave your kids home dining here as well as many other similar establishments in Montreal.

It was definitely nothing fancy, but it had pretty good food and drinks (nachos were great) and the older bartender was a friendly guy. Nice atmosphere and a fun evening!
