The veal really was yearling beef, which is par for the course. It was nicely grilled and too big for one person. I ordered a bottle of a vinho verde tinto (young red wine) from the Monção sub-region, which was a very reasonable five euros. No one else arrived in the restaurant after I stepped through the door at 7:20 p.m. When I left at nine-something (having lingered over the wine and a round of a quite nice local cheese), the proprietor had the keys in the lock, ready to lock up behind me. The entire experience was perfectly acceptable: nothing really to complain about, but nothing to rave about either. The total tab came to exactly twenty euros.
7 euro for a 3 course lunch, wine and coffee. Fish was well prepared. Liked it and would go there again.
Excellent service, amazing food and a fantastic time. Would definatly recommend. The Foda a monçao was one of the best i had in a long time The serivice was one that i can not fault.
I stopped off here with some cycling friends. We wanted to give a Dutch friend the opportunity to try some traditional Portuguese food. We had the Menú del día and ended up paying 10 euros each (with extras and a decent tip). The waitress let us leave our bags there afterwards so we could have a wander around without being loaded down. She even filled up our water bottles for the ride back. We ended up going back for drinks and there was a great atmosphere. The place is adequately decorated but that 's not what you go for. The meal was good.
