Ibaraki Prefectural Museum Of History

It’s not a very modern museum but the enthusiastic staffs definitely had out lots of efforts to illustrate the history of ibaraki prefecture. Mito isn’t really a touristy city and there aren’t really a lot of foreign visitors, so 99.99% of the illustrations and displays in the museum don’t come with English, but with my very limited Japanese I still enjoyed my visit a lot. My only wish was that the museum could be a little bit bigger.

You glimpse how the elementary education before the war

Great collection. It's a shame that most of the pieces descriptions are not in english.

The grounds outside the museum are lovely and free to walk through. The displays inside the museum are cool as well, though most displays don’t have any English.

Cheap but not much to see. Everything was in Japanese.
