Contribuiți la feedbackLooking for someone to cater my annual Pool Party this year...I decided to bring my sons to RDs to check out the food. We ordered a little bit of everything...fried chicken...hot wings...jerk wings...creole shrimp...cole slaw...mac n cheese...dirty rice...ribs...brisket...sweet potato fries...regular fries...gravy and corn bread. Whew...that's a lot of food. We had mild bbq on the brisket...medium on the ribs and hot on the wings. Like most mild sauces...what's the point? I've yet to taste a mild sauce with any flavor so the brisket was very good and tender but we should've chosen another sauce for it. The medium is very good but the real star is the hot. Despite being called hot it wasn't spicy at all...but it was jam-packed with flavor. We all agreed we should've ordered hot on all the meats. The Jerk wings are very good with a good kick of spice and both fries were OK but a bit on the soft, mushy side. To us...the standouts were...the Southern Fried Chicken...the hot wings...the cole slaw and the gravy....probably the best gravy I've ever had. Mac n Cheese was very good as was the corn bread. The creole shrimp and dirty rice were good but lacked a bit in the flavor department. Chef Jean came back to discuss what I was looking for at my party and he was very friendly and helpful. Service was good with a smile and food came promptly with no mistakes. Roomy seating...nice blues playing in the background...good food and good service...we'll be back soon.
Went in with friends and when disappointed with meal (long wait for food, beans were ice cold, ribs were far from fall-off-the-bones and should have been cooked with more care) we were informed from the server that their "A" team was off site at a separate function and their "B" team was cooking. Seriously?? And when he told us this he actually thought he was funny. So apparently you have a 50/50 chance. Good luck. Go elsewhere where they may care about what they serve.
We were spending the night in Brampton and had dinner here. They had to chase down some menus for us! That was a first! They could print some off just on paper until they got more menus, but anyway! The restaurant was relatively clean. Someone had left a big mess on the floor and they walked by that for a bit before sweeping it up, but our table was clean. It smelled good and we were hungry! Let me just say that on principle I have a hard time giving rib places a 5 because I always compare any rib dinner to Big Daddy’s in St. Paul, MN which is a 5+. So RD’s got a solid 4. They have good sauce, good ribs and good wings. I didn’t like the fries all that much – sort of mushy and a weird taste, but all in all very good…just not up to my Big Daddy’s good! (I don’t think anyplace would be!) We would for sure eat here again if we are back in the area.
We normally go there to take-out some ribs and briskets in the weekends when friends are visiting. Ribs are tasty and fresh off the grill. The briskets are tendered and delicious. Only thing is that you may have to wait for a while for them, specially the ribs, when they are busy.
Let me first say that I am a huge fan of ribs. I have owned a smoker for over a decade and I seek out the best barbecue around. This this is quite poor. The worst part was the sauce. I literally thought I was eating pasta. It tasted so much like tomato sauce it was actually quite nauseating. The ribs were tough and not tender comma besides were awful. The baked beans were dried out and clumpy and coleslaw was tasteless. As I write this I'm still trying to figure out why I didn't give it one star. Maybe it's because the service was good and they were friendly. Avoid.
