Montecatini Italian Kendall, Miami

Starting with the atmosphere, they sat us in the outdoor area in front of the door. So imagine a door that is open and your table is the door stop to keep the door open. That is where we sat. Though the glass there was another family seated and it felt like we were eating together.Service, no one spoke English not even enough to communicate with my husband. It was so bad that they would talk to me and ignore him all together. I could have translated their conversation but they didn't even bother to include him and just talked to me. Our server was nice but again my husband couldn't ask him about the menu.Food, the fried cheese balls were paired with sweet and sour sauce. Seemed like a strange pairing of an Asian sauce with a spanish cheese. It distracted from the cheese. An Asian sauce doesn't fit the Italian, Cuban, Spanish theme. It just tasted strange. Asians don't have cheese recipes that should have been a clue. It wasn't fusion it was confussion.The spaghetti carbonara. Best description, meh. It was not the best. It was missing the black speckles of black pepper that the name carbonara comes from.$42 short rib. It was so disappointing. Over all the whole dish was under seasoned. Risotto was the worse part. It haf some pieces of rice that were al dente and others were over cooked. Overcooked to the point the the gain split. The flavor was like boiled rice in water boring boxed broth. The beef was just under seasoned. The mushrooms sauce was either not enough or the beef was just simply under seasoned.This dish needed SALT, SALT, SALT!I couldn't finish eating it.I will not be returning to try other dishes.

This place never fails to freshen your palate. Great service, excellent food. Is obvious the attention to quality ingredients is there. Highly recommend.

Wonderful experience. Food was excellent, service was great despite being packed. Party of 2, no reservation but was seated fast. The lasagna was delicious and very filling, one of the best I've had with a Latin spin on it; mashed potato layer which stayed hot so definitely let it cool down between bites. Delicious, I've never had a lasagna like it but it left me wanting more. The Queen Cream Cheese soup was also excellent, cheesie and had chicken; also very unique dish but delicious. The Spaghetti with Shrimp was also very delicious. The tiramisu was also one of the best I've had, delicious. The server and bus girl were very attentive. Restaurant had a very nice family-oriented atmosphere, excellent service and exceptional food. Menu had a lot to choose from. I will definitely be coming back to this gem. Thank you to everyone at Montecatinj for the amazing experience!Kid-friendliness: A lot of birthdays going on when we went, a few children's birthdays. I love how they still do the whole birthday celebration with the cake on the candle and everyone singing happy birthday.

Love everything about this restaurant. Servers are very attentive and listen carefully to your requests. Spanish tapas are great as well as their Italian dishes. Sargias are very good, I just ask them to take it easy on the simple syrup.

For the price I'm paying, I expect a high quality pasta dish and actual pesto sauce on the pasta as the name of the food item suggests. A Hello Fresh pasta meal tastes better than this. The lasagna had no taste. The only meal that tasted okay was the seafood risotto. The quality does not match the price. It's a shame because I really wanted to like this place being so close to my neighborhood.
