It 's a diner or greasy spoon or whatever other American colloquialism you 'd like to use for hole in the wall restaurant. Let 's talk about the food. As comfort food goes, it 's on the upper tier. The portion sizes are generous, the quality is as good as you could expect from a short order cook and a deep fryer. We 're talking home fries, brown gravy, fried fish, ribs (and pretty good ones at that), traditional breakfast fare (including really good pancakes) and a strong cup of coffee. As value goes, you 're not going to find a better deal in town. I once famously dined here with myself, and three others for breakfast, and we got out the door for $20. An Egg McMuffin, hashbrown and coffee is more than $5 these days. The only small downside to this joint is the clientele. There seems to always be some folks at the bar who have outspoken, and quite frankly, racist and sexist comments they just love to share with whomever will listen. While this isn 't a direct indictment on the restaurant itself, it still made me a bit uncomfortable hearing some of the nonsense a few guys were spouting off. I 'd like to say it was an isolated incident, but it happened twice when i was there. And for the record, both times were on the weekend for breakfast. I imagine the evening gets a little tougher around the edges. Again, this doesn 't effect the food or value, but some people might feel a little uncomfortable. If you 're looking for a low key spot, with consistently decent comfort food at a great price point, I 'd certainly give Riffil 's a try.
This place is under new ownership. Now just Riverside or The Riverside! New owner, it appears doesn't like the bar and grill atmosphere and trying to change to a restaurant ... It's closed on Mondays and closes at 9 or 10 pm on weekends! Recently I stopped in for dinner. There was a guy playing guitar and a woman singing. When I tried to order I was given a small piece of paper with a few selections on it. When I asked the owners daughter about it, she stated they stop serving regular menu at 7 pm and I came in at 7:15 pm and if I don't like it I can leave! Which I did! I have run into others whom used to be regulars for food and drinks here; they are also going elsewhere as well!
This is a local TREASURE! I almost hate reviewing because I don 't want it to get crowded, but the owners deserve the review. First and foremost, the food is FABULOUS! I 'm not exaggerating. It 's terrific! I recommend the pecan pancake... but just one. The pancakes are huge. Their sausage gravy is also amazing. And the price is more than reasonable. I can feed my two teenagers, my husband and myself for under $20! Yes please! This is a local dive our kind of restaurant! If you are going to eat for decor or ambiance, you need to pass. If you are going for great food at a fair price served by kind people, Riffils is for you!
My 1st stop in and all I had was a couple of coneys, fresh cut fries and a Pepsi but the staff was friendly and the food was good. I will be stopping back to try breakfast and dinner at some point.
Seriously, not the best food but the bar is adequate. Went for fish nite, early, and they had run out. What we did get but it was greasy and heavy. Not been back.
