Eder Restaurant

Moderene Ambiente, eine kreative, gute Küche mit auch traditionellen Gerichten, ebenso auch was ganz ausgefallenes, nämlich Sushi. das alles bietet das Eder Restaurant.Wir haben in den Tagen des Urlaubes wirklich alles mal ausprobiert, einfach alles top. Auch nicht verachten darf man am Abend die große Weinkarte.

Das Restaurant Eder am Dorfplatz machte einen sehr gemütlichen Eindruck. Tolle Atmosphäre, Tisch draußen beim dem Pool bekommen. Getränke kamen sehr schnell. Das bestellte Chateaubriand dauerte jedoch über 40 Minuten. Hatte es "medium" bestellt. Doch das Steak war definitiv "well done". Kein roter oder rosa Kern mehr. Nach längerem Warten nahm der Kellner das reklamierte Steak mit in die Küche. Kam dann nach ein paar Minuten wieder, statt eines "medium" gebratenen Steaks gab es nur eine schroffe Frage: "Was der Herr ist denn für Sie medium?" Keinerlei Einsicht, Entschuldigung oder auch nur Service-Orientierung. Als Gast habe ich es nicht nötig, hier zu diskutieren. Die mit 5 Euro zusätzlich bepreiste Beilage "Bohnen im Speckmantel" war nicht genießbar. Warum? Weil der Koch den Speckmantel auf der Unterseite erheblich anbraten ließ. Bei Abräumen zeigte ich dies dem Kellner, doch auch hier keinerlei Entschuldigung oder Reaktion. Schlechte Qualität und schlechten Service darf man im Eder offenbar gerne mitzählen. Schade, denn das Ambiente macht eigentlich Lust auf eine Einkehr!

Situated at the top end of the village square in the beautiful village of Maria Alm, Gasthof Eder is a busy hotel with extensive restaurant facilities on the ground floor. The rib-eye steaks served with a delicious sauce there are simply outstanding and drew us back a couple of times in our two week stay in the village where we felt spoilt for choice of good restaurants. On each occasion at Gasthof Eder we had the same charming waiter, who seemed to have memorised our drinks order and our meal preferences from our first visit. We did go along to a BBQ night on the first Friday evening which was a self-service 'all you can eat' affair. The choice of starters and main courses was extremely varied and thoroughly enjoyed. The choice of dessert, or lack of choice, however, was somewhat disappointing on that evening - confined to crepes with a limited choice of fillings only. This would be the deciding factor against patronising another BBQ night, given the choice of many other first class restaurants offering delicious desserts in Maria Alm.We would certainly look forward to Gasthof Eder a la carte meals on future visits but would give BBQ nights a miss.

Our food was lukewarm. Staff avoided even eye contact with us, even though they were very attentive for other, German speaking guests seating nearby. We were left for 20 min with dirty plates,noone bothered to clean them or ask if we want desserts etc. Finally we went to the bar to pay our bill because the waiter pretended not to see us.
